Just try to get into the habbit of over estimating calories eaten and under estimating calories burned - then you are safe ;) lol
I knew that was a lot ,right????? I'm going to say that I burn maybe half that. ugh!!!
500 in 45 mins? I used to do 1hour 10 mins at the gym - alternating between bike, treadmill flat, treadmill uphill, arm rotator, Cross trainer and recliner bike and 1hour 10 mins burned off 345 calories on average.
The chart is not perfect but gives you a good idea of base rates of calorie burning.
Good chart and good information! I know it depresses me to use the machines at the gym and see how hard I have to work to burn 200 cals!
altepal39, people tend to overestimate how many calories they burn, and underestimate the amount they eat. Take what your elliptical machine "says" with a grain of salt. I always subtract 10% from what the machines say I burned. At least 10%. It also depends on your machine. Is it one where you can input your age, weight, and constantly monitors your heart rate? All these factors impact how many calories you burn during exercise.
I don't know - medium aerobics for half an hour should burn more than 100, shouldn't it? If I use my ellipitical machine for 45 minutes alternating fast then slow - it says I burned 500 calories! Is it lying to me?? LOL!! I think it might be..
