Good morning... how is everyone doing today? I hope you're still weathering the stay at home situation, if your area is still doing that.
My state is beginning to open up a little bit - they say they're going to do it in stages and I'm hoping that people don't start getting sick again. So far, they've reopened some beaches and are starting to reopen some businesses, though social distancing is still required and masks are recommended when in public settings. Restaurants are allowed to open for inside seating at 25% capacity and some businesses can open with the same guideline. Hair/nail salons, gyms, bars/nightclubs must remain closed for the time being and gatherings are still limited to 10 or less and elderly/vulnerable are encouraged to continue to shelter in place. Although churches were never shut down, here, they've been encouraged to hold online or outdoor services. Schools will remain closed for the remainder of this school year. It will be a while before attractions, such as Disney, Universal, etc will be able to open and I would think that when they do, there will be restrictions as to how many can be allowed into the parks each day.
Some cities placed stricter restrictions on residents and not all of them have expired, so things are different from one city/county to another, which makes it sort of difficult to know what you can/can't do.
Elective surgeries are being allowed again, so I'm hoping I can get my cataract surgery taken care of soon, although my husband seems to think maybe I should wait a while...
Anyway, we're still doing well and continue to work on a variety of projects here at home. Prior to the stay at home order, we had purchased new flooring for one of our bathrooms but hadn't put it down yet... We've done that and it turned out really well. I continue to practice my calligraphy and am working on getting our spare bedroom set up as a "studio" so I don't have to have my supplies all over the house.
I saw a new endocrinologist this past week and although I wasn't impressed with much of the visit, he did change my thyroid medication from synthetic hormones to a desiccated brand and I'm beginning to see some improvements in the way I feel. The very first thing I noticed was that the swelling went down considerably in my ankles - what a difference to actually "see" that I have ankle bones again. My fingers still swell, but I think that's from arthritis. My peripheral neuropathy has gotten better, even though my neurologist had me wean completely off the medication I've been using for several years and I hadn't even attributed my neuropathy to being thyroid related.
I'm really happy with the way it's working and hope that other symptoms that my doctors have said are not thyroid related (even though they show up on most lists of hypothyroid symptoms) will begin improving, including the ability to lose weight.
Speaking of weight - it seems to have stabilized a little bit. Instead of fluctuating by 4-5 lbs/day, it's only fluctuating by 1-2 lbs/day, so I see that as great improvement. I haven't been recording my weight on a daily basis because it's so erratic, but I've lost 1.2 lbs in the past week. I'm sure that's from loss of fluid since I haven't changed my eating or exercise habits. It makes me hopeful that once I do begin exercising again (now that I actually have energy to do it), I'll be able to lose some, rather than simply beating my head against a brick wall.
So - that's me. How are things going for y'all? I hope you're all doing well and are having success with your efforts to lose weight, be fit and live healthy.
~~Wishing everyone a successful week~~
