overwhelmed and need help fast

I am 34 years old and had sterilization surgery at 27 years old (after 3 kids). I was also diagnosed with anxiety and panic, along with ADHD. I was prescribed paxil and Ritalin. Since then I have done nothing but gain weight despite my best efforts. At 27 I was 240lbs and now I am 340lbs and disgusted with myself. I have severe chronic low back pain (from an injury sustained as a teen) and now it is aggravated more. My frustration is my doctor just assumes all my health complaints are weight related and instead of actually testing me for any possible medical issues, he tells me to go to the gym and join weight watchers. I explained with the back pain I can hardly walk, let alone exercise. He shrugged his shoulders and said its weight related.
So now I am going to try and diet on my own, cutting out all the things I love to eat and drink but still feel so unsupported and overlooked by my doctor. Any advice?

Your problem foods are the ones you eat without even thinking - your go-to foods mostly.  You have to shake things up and think differently about food.  It's fuel, not comfort.  Vegetables, a little lean meat, fruits, limited starches, some nuts, should be your regular fuel.  Cakes, cookies, chips, fried foods, soda and sweet drinks ... those aren't fuel and can be eliminated.

I say find a new doctor. Exercise is important but there are alot of other things to add in to help. Yes you need to cut back on certain foods but find ways to substitute, experiment! For example instead of ranch dressing or dip I use fage fat free yogurt and a powder pack of ranch dip mix. Of course it taste a little different but you get use to it cause its close to the real thing. And it's only 130 for a cup vs the 130 for 2 tablespoons of the real ranch dip and dressing. Little things like that and baby steps. Besides that there are prescription like adipex that can help with energy and cravings, there are some side effect so switching doctors and taking about the pills is a good idea. And there is surgery, I don't know if you have insurance but gastric bypass could be something to look into. I had it done and I'm so happy about it. I'm no longer a diabetic, my cholesterol is under control, and I've lose 85 pounds since January. I feel better and have way more energy. Just some things to think about.
