Thank you for saying I offered teliahbumm some good advice. Your idea of putting everything you plan to eat as snacks in portions is a good one.
Potato chips are my weakness too. I like your idea to actually count out the potato chips is a good one. Oh well, you have to give yourself little treats
sometimes, right ?

evewisewoman has some good advice.  Make sure you have some almonds, raw veggies, fruit (limited), cheese available for when you get the munchies.  Put everything in portions, except veggies, so you make sure you don't mindlessly eat 2-3 portions instead of one.

Another thing you can do is eat a small portion of food then go do something else to take your mind off from it; chances are, after 15-20 minutes, your munchies will be gone.

Potato chips are  my main craving, too.  I find if I give in and actually "count them out" to about 1/2 a portion size, that's enough to satisfy, but if I eat out of the bag, I'll eat the whole thing, then hate myself in the morning.

I struggle with the munchies myself during the day myself. Some days are worse than others. Sometimes, I give in to my craving. I've heard that's okay
as long as its done in moderation. Potato chips are my weakness. I have a little bag of them from time to time, maybe 2 packages a month spread out between 2 weeks. You asked me how to curb the appetite for the munchies.
One thing I have done is change what I eat in the way of a snack. Now when I'm hungry, I eat a handful of almonds. Lately, I've had a craving for naval
oranges and tomatoes. If I feel like a particular food, I always believe your
body knows what it needs, I usually give in to my craving. I used to have some chocolate atleast a few days a month. Anyway, now I have chocolate very occasionally. My favorite chocolate is dark chocolate which is apparently healthy too. Everything in moderation I say. I've found substituting soda crackers with some cheddar cheese and marble cheese a few slices to get me to lunch, helps keep my blood sugar stable.Try and eat foods that will fill you up and that will keep your blood sugar at a good level.
Sometimes I buy yogurt too and baby carrots. Good luck finding the balance and giving into your cravings too. If you don't give into your cravings, I find, atleast, that the cravings become stronger. Better to eat a little bit of it then wait a few days and over eat whatever it is you are craving.
