Open Sore Inner Labia. Syphilis??

Hi there I was wondering if anybody could please help me. I am a 21yo female and have recently been worrying about a sore that has formed on the inside of my labia.  About a week ago I had very smelly discharge that lasted no more than three days. Then four days ago I noticed a burning feeling when I peed. I checked myself with a mirror and noticed I had a large lump on the bottom inner part of my labia right next to my vagina.  With closer inspection I found I had a small open sore on the lump.  I tried not to mess with it but two days ago I pressed down onto the lump and brownish mucus-like pus with a little blood kept coming out.  I know I probably should not keep pressing on it but I have done so a couple times.  The bump is gone but the sore is very much open and pus is still coming out. I have been constantly wiping the area with wipes. I am a student and can't afford to go to the doctor until later this month so I have been trying to self diagnose myself which in turn is scaring the crap out of me.  I know syphilis has symptoms that seem similar to mine so I am wondering if there are any ways I can tell if that is what I have before I am able to go to the doctor??  I have been sexually active with only my boyfriend for almost two years now but I have been questioning his faithfulness these past two month so I am extra freaked out.

What I was wondering is
1. Based on the limited information, do you think I have syphilis and what are some signs that it would be syphilis and not something else like a cyst?
2. If it is an std could I have had this for two years without any symptoms?
3. I see some websites saying I should get the pus out and others saying I should not, which is correct?
4. Should I put something like neosporin on the sore?
5.How freaked out should I be??

I'm currently experiencing my first herpes outbreak as we speak and all of your symptoms sound like the ones I'm having. I went to Planned Parenthood Monday and I was officially diagnosed. I'm also a student and always broke. The good news is because of my financial situation I only have to give a donation if I am able to at PP. The prescription they gave me was acyclovir (200mg is less $$$) and I have to take 5 a day for 10 days. The script was $22. I would suggest you go get checked. 1 in 4 women have herpes from the research I've been doing and the initial out break is the worst. I know from having my partner look at the sores that it feels a billion times worse than it looks. Please just go get it checked. You will feel better once you actually know whats going on!

Thank you for your response even though it has scared the crap out of me. I read online that herpes do not have yellow/brown pus- is this true? Also since this morning my sore has shrank into a tiny dot and there is no more pus or blood coming out. I am hesitant to feel relief because of the things I've read online but could this mean it was jsut a cyst or something like that or is an std still possible?

Unfortunately, based on what you have said I believe you many have genital herpes. This could be your first outbreak. Most of the time a woman will get an outbreak before a period whether it is genital or a cold sore. Someone with a cold sore who performs oral sex can transmit the herpes virus to the genital area and that is why herpes is one of the most common std's. You should see a gynocologist because some people require a perscription for Valtrex. Good Luck!

Thank you so much for your response.  The swelling has completely gone down and there is very little pus coming out now but the sore is still there. I just started my period this morning so I don't know if they will be able to check me out or not. I wouldn't want to waste my copay so I will have to call and see tomorrow.  Again, thanks for your help!
