Sometimes (most times?) bleeding happens the first time (due to the hymen tearing open).  But sometimes not.  So, there's no way for a man to be certain in the absence of feeling an obstacle as an intact hymen might have been a very minor obstruction in some women that was not significant enough to be felt in the heat of the moment.

I agree that if you lie about it that may come back to haunt you big time (trust will have been broken, if you've lied about that what else might you have lied about or be lying about?).  And I agree it's better to be evasive.  Or simply take the view that you're too shy about that sort of thing (which could be interpreted as a virginal perspective).

Here's food for thought:  perhaps if you know he's experienced, you should encourage him to get tested for STDs?  (((And do so for yourself quietly, just in case.)))

Hi there and welcome.  The only real way he will know is if you tell him.  Don't lie though.  Just be evasive.  good luck
