Vaginal and anal tearing/fissures

For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations;
1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?)
2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum)
3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.

This tearing is not related to intercourse since my husband and I are unable to do that due to the pain it causes me.  There is no real pain otherwise. I am getting some minor bleeding when I poop due to the tears in the anal area. The entire vaginal area is very itchy and if I scratch or rub the skin at all I often give myself one of these tears.  It seems as if the skin is very thin. There are no other symptoms that I am aware of.

I have had blood work and a biopsy done. Some of the things that I was tested for were; genital herpes, lichen sclerosus, lichen simplex chronicus, lichen planus, vulvar vestibulitis.  All results came back negative. The biopsy tested positive for "healing ulcers". My doctor does not seem to know what the problem is and is contacting a specialist in Lebanon, NH.

My Dr. prescribed an estrogen cream which did not seem to work. I have not been on any other medication for this. I am looking for some guidance as to what this condition may be and how to treat it. My husband & I want to get pregnant soon but I would like to resolve this issue first. Please help.

i started using a cleaning solution & have a difference that's so amazingly good!
In India, its called a V-Wash and is a therapeutic solution with lactic acid ...for intimate cleaning (external) & to balance pH levels. It has a pH of 3.5.
I used it twice a day & got major changes.
nowadays i use it once a day. Great solution for this long long pain & tensions!  Try em pls & lemme know!

I have finally found a cream that works: TRIMOVATE CREAM, by GlaxoSmithKline, and I do recommend it wholeheartedly.

I was pleased to find this forum and have tried all suggestions: vitamin E oil, almond oil, canesten, taken Magnesium and vitamin C, got tested for all STD and herpes and candida and bacterial vaginosis (nothing!) and was really in pain and despair.

The GP had no clue. This new cream I have been given at the hospital did the miracle. It contains steroids so it should not be used for more than 2 weeks, but when the fissures are healed you can maintain the intact sking by applying a little bit of nappy rash cream (with Zinc and castor oil).

I hope this helps, TRIMOVATE CREAM has changed my life!

Hello:)
I got the same problem recently and I still do not know the causes-maybe antibiotics, stress, humidity down there- but I managed to get the cuts to heal and prevent them.

I got two mean papercut like cuts on both sides of my vagina and I only noticed only when I properly examined myself with a mirror. It explained why I was so itchy and why it burnt when I peed.

So I just disinfected the cuts by smearing them over with Germolene(does not burn as bad as alcohol and protects the area from humidity)
Overnight the cuts had dried up though the skin was very stilll fragile.

I took Vitamin C regularly, cranberry pills and had some yoghurt with lactobacillus acidophilus cultures in them to restore the balance of my vagina.

Plus as preventive measure I use 'Johnson's baby nappy cream' everytime I shower so that I am clean and dry ( the cream absorbs humidity where bacteria thrives)

I hope this helps though I still recommend going to a doctor if those symptoms persist.

Hi, I saw your post from 2009 and I was wondering if you were successful in getting your fissures under control, mine are 365 days a year 24-7, it's pretty rough. I was told I had Lichen Sclerosis a few years ago and I tried all their medicines etc. I got my biopsy done three weeks ago and the new doctor says No I do not have Lichen Sclerosis but that I have skin irritants ya no kidding, it's so frustrating. Anyways how have you been feeling these days? etc. Let me know. Thanks!

After both my pregnancies I had the worst anal fissure. I would scream when going to the bathroom. But one thing I did was I bought fresh cranberries and I cooked them and I ate alot of it. I also used vaseline, which helped alot. One time I had to use the cream recommended by the doctor and the other time I did not. But I felt the cranberries over other foods which just irritated the area more helped alot.
