It is important to know what type of Ovarian Cancer your daughter has. There is a certain Ovarian Cancer, that usually is found in younger patients and although the chemo is harsh (it is not taxol/carbo and I believe that the patient stays in the hospital for a couple of days to receive chemo for each infusion)....this type of cancer does not usually recur and has a very good, positive outcome.
My mom is in remission from Stage 2a and she had 6 chemo sessions of Taxo/Carbo every 3 weeks. I think the norm is 6 sessions and then somethimes maintenance but everyones case is different. Welcome and I wish you and your family the best of luck during this difficult situation. Stay positive !!
Wow, I am so sorry. She is so young. What stage was your granddaughter diagnosed as? And what type of ovarian cancer does she have? Sorry for all the questions but there are alot of wonderful women on this forum who can answer your questions. I had Stage 1A, Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer, and had 6 chemo sessions of Taxotere/Carboplatin that was given every 3 weeks. Everyone here has a different story, so we all have something to share. We would like to help in any way we can. Welcome and I am so sorry that your family has to go through this. God Bless.
