I just upped my dose from 1/8 of a 50 mg pill to 3/8. (I know that sounds ridiculous.) I'm having hot flashes now. I've started Zoloft a couple times now and I've gotten hot flashes before. Four years ago it was 10-20 per day. It tapered off after a few days or maybe weeks, I don't remember for sure. I just started again and I'm having the hot flashes again and I was looking to see if anyone else had problems like this. Today I had around 12 of them.
Benzodiazepine is a type of medication. Xanax is one example. It acts quickly on anxiety, but can be addictive if not taken properly.
What in the world is a benzo?
When I first started, adjusted dosage, came off of Zoloft I felt much more on edge. It took a little while for my body to get used to it; I would say that after a couple of weeks, the side effects really dropped off and after about a month or so, I did not notice them at all. Medications can sometimes be a little hit and miss depending on the person, but I usually advise patience with this. Has your doctor prescribed you a benzo for short term use while you start Zoloft? Many times he/she will prescribe one to help with the anxiety...keep us posted!
