*** FORUM REMINDERS PLZ READ***

There has been a recent influx of new members into the
addiction communities and while we welcome each and every one of you,
we would like to remind you that there are rules for posting. Before
your post, please read the follow the rules below:

1.      Do not post questions on how to get high by taking more meds, combining med, etc.

2.      Do not post asking how to pass a drug test.

3.      Do not give advise to anyone if you do not know the answer.
Please remind the poster that someone will be along who will help them.

4.      Do not recommend another drug, with the exception of suboxone, for use during the withdrawal process.

Any post that violates the above rules will be deleted.

This is for the new members and the old timers as well. We all need to
help and respect each other in our common goal toward recovery.

Also, remember we do have a pain management forum if you need to look into alternatives for pain.

If we all work together we we can continue to have a wonderful and supportive place for our members .

Your cooperation is appreciated.

I learned that the hard way...After my post on Neurontin keeping my wd symptoms away, I researched it and although it is being used for that I found post after post saying the same thing about it as Trams. It is very addictive and although you don't feel high people are posting that wd from it is worse than opiates. I've seen alot of posts on here talking about Neurontin and using it to detox and replacing as a pain med who all beleive as I did that it's non-addictive. There is a class action lawsuit against..I think Pizer for mislaeding MDS on what this drug is approved for....only shingles and siezures. Anyone using Neurontin needs to research it. It is addictive and dangerous according to dozens of posts I read on a forum I found when I googled --neurontin-withdrawl-. Please be careful. I will never post about another drug on the forum again. I hope MedHelp leaves this one on as I'm correcting bad information I gave in a previous post to help and educate...which I should have done before I posted or useing it myself.

I don't know if I can, but i will do my best.  I've never been able to follow rules.....I have always had a verbal disability........I think its ridiculous, but ....ok........I would say "Only in America"  taking away our "freedom of speech"?........I understand a few of them, but, geez.

*** again just to make clear when we say don't recommend using other drugs to wd from one to another we are speaking of other opiates... However do remember when recommending benzodiazepines and some sleep aids that all can be as addicting as there DOC . Detox is such a vulnerable time for both our body and minds so we need to be very careful. .

well said -- I have to interject here tho,,clonidine is NOT a narcotic and can be very helpful in the w/d process.  The only reason it's not commonly used anymore is because it is tried and true and old and cheap.  Only those with very low BP should not but Dr.s have to prescribe it so to advise one to ask a doctor for it I can't see how that is harmful.  Many of the amino acids listed can interact as well.  no one is claiming to be a chemist here.  and why is it ok to advise Suboxone when it it IS a narcotic Sched 111 even and many people would have been better off tapering their short acting opioids and never getting into the whole sub thing.....Maybe this isn't the posting place for me to try and be helpful.  RULES should be fair and make snese.

I don't think it would be bad to suggest clonidine/as long as you talk with a doctor about it first. avisg?

Why is suboxone the only drug anyone can reccomend, isn't that just as hard to get off of as any other narcotic???

"cept sub"  ummm tis a strange analogy...like saying it is ok to use vodka to kick a beer problem...one of the strongest narcotics on the market and it is "ok" to recommend it?...again..different circumstance for each person...but that is quite a large statement considering the strength of that drug...i would much rather taper from hydro with hydro or use darvacet or another weaker narcotic to taper with than jump to a big gun like sub..but I do see how some need it to quit...to work or clean up their life for a while or whatever..it is better than drugging on the streets...just seems like a strange rule..many people who were addicted to that drug/sub/ and had to wd from it probably would not agree that is "OK" as it caused them grief..others would agree it is ok...just as some who wd from trams feel strongly about its use

I dont know about any of us "Recommending" anything to people except supps and natural things..if people ask about a particular drug, then people can share opinions and experiences..or do it in a pm....the thomas recipe does recommend valium and maybe that is not good...."something for anxiety and sleep" may be a better term as valium is addicting...clonidine is a safe drug if used properly and not habit forming where as klonopin/valium etc are habit forming

dont know.."everyone is different"...IBKleen always said be sure to add that!  LOL
