30 days!

Feel like I have hit my first milestone!  Its actually a scary time because I have forgotten the pain of detox, but not the euphoria of the pills.  But I AM commited to sobriety, I go to therapy once a week and as many NA meetings as I can get to (one a week at minimum).  I have been jumping on and off this wagon for 11 years, but I have never sought aftercare before.

I am also commited because I have to be for my family.  My husband has been very supportive but we have a 13 month old and I know he will put the baby before me, as he should.  He bought drug tests and I have agreed to random testing - anything that will help!!

To all that are just beginning - 30 days ago I was reading 2 week posts and those seemed like an eternity.  But it does get easier, dont give up on yourselves, I am not special or superhuman.  Just a girl that wants to live..not just exist.

Congrats on 30 days!! That is a huge milestone.  I am a strong believer in after care.  After ten years of trying to do it by myself I finally realized I had to do something different.  Now I have gone the longest time sober since I started taking pills.  I am so happy for you!!

You've got two of the three steps in place. My question is do you still have access to pills? Have you cut all your sources? What you're experiencing now is normal, and is the time when many relapse IF they can get meds.  Over time you may get to the heart of what drives your addiction, but then again you may not. In the mean time if you can't access pills you can't use, thus allowing yourself time to heal, etc.
Another question is, what are you doing differently this time? Is it going to meetings, telling your husband? You've been around the block. You know the drill and you know that if things remain the same you will relapse.
Finally, for me the physical detox was absolute hell. I'll never forget it. Maybe it was a blessing, who knows. All the best to you on this fantastic milestone. Now on to day 60!
