Trying to get off oxycodone 10/325

I guess I'm back.  About a year ago I was able to get off hydro's.  I was successful.  May of this year my back/sciatica nerve started acting up.  Went to my pain management dr and she scheduled an epidural steroid injection and gave me a prescription for 120 oxycodone 10/325 to take every 6 hours.  I do not think the injection helped but the percocets  definitely helped.  I been back to her for 5 refills already and she's starting to get suspicious.  She keeps telling me I need to see a surgeon, but i really dont have time to deal with that.  I'm down to my last 25 pills, but stopped cold turkey yesterday at 3pm.  I took 4 pills a day for 5 months.  I FEEL LIKE **** TODAY :( the body aches are horrible, my *** is on fire and my legs feel like they're going to fall off.  This is horrible.  I know the first 5 days are tough.  very tempted to pop a pill, but know I will not stop and she will not give me more refills and I definitely dont want to buy on the street.  So done right now.

No, you dont need an oxycodone.  I would stay away from Caffeine if possible. It may make you more anxious. I know its difficult. I am a huge coffee drinker, and I had to cut way back on my caffeine intake. That did help, and made me feel better. The calmig tea is great.

Take care, keep moving forward!

Stay strong friend, I am on day 6 Oxycodone free. I am starting to feel human again. I have emailed my PCP to NOT refill my prescription next week. I actually feel like cleaning a little around the house today and may even have some appetite. It has been a hellish 8 year cycle and I (we) can do this!

I been down this road before and I know it's my fault for getting caught up with these pills.  At work now feeling anxious and fired up.  Will drinking coffee help?  Had some calm tea, but still feeling anxious and worried.  What I need is a damn oxycodone :(

Thanks all.  It's been a tough 5 days but made it this far.  Sorry for the late post, just wanted to focus.  Feeling a little better, but the damn upset stomach is brutal.  Lots of very deep burps and noisy stomach.  I know I need to fix my back issues or I will be back at the pills again.  It's been a really hard year.  Sometines I feel like I have more issues then I'm willing to accept.  Always scared and always worrying about my health.

Hi Nike

It is very nice to meet you though I'm sorry that it has to be under these circumstances.  It seems that the one thing we all have to worry about is those times when we have legitimate reasons to have to take the pills.  I was told right after my detox (I have a painful disease that acted up) that I did not understand a thing about addiction if I didn't realize that dealing with a ton of pain isn't a good thing either.  I do understand I just felt I was too soon into my sobriety to try it so I did without.

In your case, you've been through all of this, you know what's up and you did what you had to do once and you can do it again.  I agree with Rissa though that you need to resolve your pain issues....find and make the time to do it...because those issues will end up getting worse and then where will you be?  If nothing else at least meet with the surgeon and find out everything that will be involved and then make an informed decision.

No matter what you decide you know that all of us will be here to support you!

God Bless You!

Hi nike, welcome back!  So your pain mgmt Dr. says you need to see a surgeon, and you don't have time for that? Why wouldn't you want to resolve your back issues? You said your pain mgmt Dr is getting suspicious. Suspicious of what?

I guess you have some decisions to make. First, whether you will see a surgeon about your back. Second, you can use your last 25 pills to do a quick taper, and maybe ease your withdrawals a bit. Or, if as you say, you are done, then get rid of your pills and get through this withdrawal process.  I assume this is not your first withdrawal, so you know that you can ease some of your physical symptoms by staying well hydrated, taking vitamins and supplements, Immodium if necessary, Epsom Salt soaks for RLS, mild exercise, etc. How about getting some support by going to meetings, counseling, etc?

You have been able to get clean before, so you know that you can do this! I just worry that when your back acts up in the future, you will start this whole thing all over again.  I would try to find the time to get your back issues resolved once and for all, if possible.

Keep posting, we will support you through this. I wish you the best! Take care.

Hi there- I'm sorry you got caught up again but I know back issues are really tough.  First, how will you manage the pain when you're off of oxycodone? That back pain will push you back to those 25 pills really fast; especially right now when your pain is increased due to the detox.

Ask your doctor for some clonidine. It really helps wd's. Get rid of the pills you have right now because you'll take them...

You can do this. You detoxed from Hydrocodone so you're strong. But really pursue other methods of pain relief. What is causing the sciatica to act up? Maybe that needs to be investigated...

Keep in touch and welcome back!
