Hi, Bob, congrats on your 8 months clean. Can you give a little more info? What are you doing for your aftercare?
Hi Bob,
I made a comment in your other post.
Yes, I still had a bit of anxiety/anxiousness at 8 m and sleep was not yet right. I also had fear at night. It does take time, and for some longer then others, for our Brain Chems to adjust back. I mentioned this in your other post. Just keep pushing threw to the other side. YOU will get better!!
Congrats on 8m
Bless
Vickie
Welcome Bob. Congrats on your 8 months clean. That is an accomplishment. It is important to make yourself move. Your brain needs to start to make its own chemicals again. When we take opiates our brain stops making serotonin, endorphins, dopamine. These are the things that help control our emotions. Exercising helps to get those chemicals producing again. You have to get moving. Are you eating clean whole foods and protein? Taking any vitamins? Drinking protein shakes? Your age, years of use, other health issues all must be take into account. Everyday you aren't using you are healing. Keep the faith, you are healing. Please continue to be patient with the process.
Keep up the good work. You are doing awesome.
Debbie
Okay, well I've been told that truly leveling out and feeling more "normal" can take a year or more. I can't tell you when exactly it happened for me, but at 2 years clean I feel sane most of the time. In my opinion, 3 meetings a week at 8 months clean is probably not enough. I did a 90 in 90 which turned into 180 meetings in 180 days. Then 5 to 6 meetings a week for a long time. You know how they say we need to go to meetings every day that we used. I think going to so many meetings really really helped me, more than I even realize. Do you have a sponsor? A home group? Good friends in the program? I cannot even stress enough how much that helps:)
I am seeing a therapist and going to aa about three meetings a week.
