SUBOXONE W/D I CAN'T DO THIS! *CRIES*

I am going through horrible Suboxone withdrawals. I haven't eaten or slept for days and it seems to be getting worse. Everytime I eat even a cracker I have diarrhea for hours. I can't even drink liquids or I puke. I am a walking zombie and all I can do is cry, I can't do this!! There is no light at the end of my tunnel it seems...I am so depressed. I just want the w/d to stop, what do I do? How can I lessen these symptoms?

Glad to see you posting again!  It's tough when someone stops posting and we never know what happened to them!

Why didn't you just resume the Suboxone rather than going to
Methadone?  Both are tough to come off, but Methadone is much tougher.  I know it's hard when you're experiencing awful w/ds, but you have to remember that unless you plan on being a "lifer" with these meds, one day you'll have to come off them too.

I agree too about your Methadone dose.  You need to allow for an adjustment period after each dosage increase, usually about a week or two.  It takes time for the Methadone to build in your system, and if you aren't waiting a little bit after an increase, you aren't giving it enough time to fairly assess the dose you're at.  What will end up happening is that you'll be on a dose MUCH higher than is needed to properly maintain you.  Of course you may feel a little lousy while you're waiting to see how the new dose works for you, but it should be tolerable, plus, that's better than ending up being way over-medicated.

What are you doing to "work" on your addiction?  Meetings?  Addiction counseling?  Outpatient rehab?  You need to make your aftercare a big priority, because while a medication replacement therapy can help stabilize you, prevent relapse, and stop w/ds, it isn't addressing the addiction itself.

Best of luck to you.

AMEN atthebeach. You are so right.

Bella, I am glad you are feeling better but be sure to get Methadone as safely and as soon as you can. The withdrawal from it is tough and it lasts a long time. I will pray for you.

hun I am glad you are feeling better, thanks for checking in.
please don't continue to increase your dosage. you are going up pretty fast within a few weeks. please give yourself time to adjust to the dosage.
it isn't necessary to take such high doses.
it will be very hard and long taper when you eventually want to come off.
a taper usually last a least a year and is very slow and there are still withdrawals associated with methadone detox after you completely stop.

the clinics want to get you at higher doses so you are with them for a long time and continue to get your money.
please be careful.
make sure you are also getting counseling.

I've been off of all opiates since November 28th. I ended up taking 6mg of Suboxone on the 27th cause I couldn't handle the withdrawals. I have been on Methadone Maintenance since November 29th and I have been doing very well. I am up to 70 mg of Methadone and I am finally starting to feel better. I didn't want to take the Methadone but I was struggling with the withdrawals and having seizures so I caved. It has been a wonderful experience and the Nurses and my counselor at the clinic are so nice and caring. I am stable for the first time in a long time and I am looking forward to the future. I am not up to my comfortable dose yet but I am getting close and today is my first day on 70mg. The methadone will build up in my system and I will hopefully feel a lot better in a few days and if I don't then they will raise me another 10mg. They raise it by 10mg every 3-4 days. I like this program a lot and I am very glad that I gave it a try.

Hi....you could freeze pedialite or gatorade in ice cube trays as well as sip it every 10 minutes . I did that then made it into ice chips in my blender .
Put a dab of vasaline on your lips and behind ...you must have a sore bum by now.I have been there can ya tell ?
Chicken noodle soup or chicken with rice soup is comforting and adds a little nutrition and hydration .Saltine crackers and bananas....lots of bananas for the potassium and plugging the bum properties ;-)
I know it is hell for you right now...I hope and pray that it gets better soon ...there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It will get brighter again .
My dad has epilepsy (grand mal) and I know how easy it is to seize during times of any kind of stress.Stay safe and go to the ER for hydration if you dont start keeping something in soon...really soon !

If I have read into this correctly your on day 9 now, your in the thick of it as far as w/d's are concerned. I do so feel for you right now, I jumped from 4 mgs Subutex, and I know only to well how your feeling, not nice! The only thing that helped me was Imodium, for the tummy troubles, walks in the fresh air and hot baths. I think popsicles are a good idea, you need liquids, I'm sure you Dr will help tomorrow! In my opinion I would stay well away from Methadone, whats the point you know, your on day 9 keep going!

Sorry typing on my phone. Continue your taper. The sweetness is easier on your tummy than water.

Yea I live alone. No I wasn't at a clinic before rehab, my neurologist was also a Suboxone doctor, I had to pay out of pocket for her to put me on Suboxone. The other Suboxone doctors in my town that accepted my insurance had long waiting list. What does co timid my taper mean? I am trying ice cubes and water before I try ginger ale cause I don't wanna vomit again.

Were you at a clinic before you went to th detox? You should try to co timid your taper. Dehydration could send you to the ER.
Small sips of ginger ale every 10 minutes. Are you alone now?

Oh wow, I agree with Sonrissa.  I am concerned about dehydration as well.  I am in Canada and not sure if you have GRAVOL there.  We can buy it OTC.  It really helps and makes your drowsy too if you buy the normal type.
Ice cubes are a great idea.  Popsicles.  Anything just to get some fluids into you.  Flat coke, gingerale.  Keep trying but as you probably know the more you vomit the more dehydrated you get.

Ice cubes is a good idea, I can rub them on my lips as well cause my lips are so dry they are cracking and bleeding. I could try ginger ale, I have tried Gatorade already but that made me so sick and have horrible diarrhea. Is a candy cane peppermint? If it is I will try that as well.

Yea, my doctor will help me tomorrow, he is very compassionate when it comes to withdrawals. I'm trying to find a way to make it through the night without being in complete misery. I am so hungry and so thirsty I can barely stand it. Can I have some advice plz on things I can do to feel a little better. People who have been through it know all the home remedies. I am worried that I will end up using, It hurts so much. A taper is supposed to be a good thing to lessen the withdrawals but im 8 days since I got cut off the taper and im still this sick. The whole point of the rehab trip was to prevent this level of withdrawal yet here I am. It feels like it gets worse everyday.

I've heard peppermint can help with nausea. If you have any, try sucking on a piece of peppermint.  Or maybe some sips of peppermint tea? Also Ginger Ale, but I don't know if that will help if you can't keep fluids down. Try sucking on some ice cubes? Just trying to think of something here.

OK, good you have a doctor appt tomorrow! Tell him everything. Glad your vitals are OK. Don't go get anymore Subs at this point. Talk to the doctor. Please let us know what happens. I will be thinking of you.

Here's another idea. Try to get some Pedialyte. I think it's in the baby aisle at the grocery store. It has tons of electrolytes in it. My doctor recommended it when I had a bad case of the stomach flu. It should be very easy on your stomach.  Bottom line is you must get fluids in you somehow.

I have an appt with my PCP tomorrow. Yes it's been 3 days. I didn't tell them how sick I was cause I was trying to get them to start the taper again, I even hid in the bathroom when I had seizures so they wouldn't know. I've tried Immodium and it didn't work. Don't be worried hun, my vitals are strong, I've been checking them. I am definitely not gonna let this go, im going to ask my PCP tomorrow for anything and everything that will help. Is there anything around the house that helps with nausea, something others have tried?

So they released you from rehab yesterday, and you haven't been able to keep down fluids for 3 days? Good grief, that doesn't even make sense. I really think you need to see a doctor and soon. You must stay hydrated! Have you tried any Immodium? That will help with the runs and stomach problems. I would say that if you can't keep any fluids down by tomorrow morning, then get to a doctor, or go the the ER. I'm very concerned about you. Don't let this go!

I forgot to mention that the doctor in rehab started me on a higher dose than what I was taking before I had arrived, then tapered me down his way. His reason for that was, "It's how we do Suboxone tapers here"
