Don't be disappointed in yourself. Just know that the stuff we took is one of the most addictive drugs on planet earth. We're expected to get either addicted or at least dependent on them. No way around it. I see my addiction as a disease that I have to treat on a daily basis. I also have Asthma that I treat every day.
You need to congratulate yourself, not feel bad! If you have the desire to stay stopped, you landed on the right site my friend. We're here to help. Look at running out as a chance to finally get free from them... this is a chance of a lifetime for you.
I took up to 10 Percoset 10 Mg a day. I had 90 filled on 5/18 and ran out yesterday at 6/1 at 2pm. I am cramping horribly. Last month I told myself that I wouldn't overtake my prescription. I did though. I don't know why I don't have control. I am very disappointed in myself.
Clonidine is really helpful through detox. Keeps the BP in check and helps with sleep. As mentioned above, you'll behold the power of a good hot bath with Epsome Salts. The Thomas Recipe was also mentioned. Look below on the right and get those items. I also found that Magnesium supplements and B complex helps. The Mag. supps. help with the muscle and tendon soreness.
Just know that it's all temporary. I LOVE Dan's "sometimes you have to walk down a dark alley, to get to the church". That is so true. Just hang on. Depending on the variables of what you've been on and how long you've been on it, you will start to get out of the bad stuff soon. Your miracle is just around the corner.
Welcome to the site! You've found a place where you can express you're feelings, and be true to yourself by being yourself. There is real wisdom, and honest help. Just knowing you're not alone in this is hopefully comforting. It's a scary thing to do. But sometimes you HAVE to walk down a dark ally, to get to the church. Here's to you seeing the path!
Dan
Hey & Welcome! Sixteen hours in? It's great to hear that you're getting some sleep! You may 'hate' it..but you're doing it! Keep it up! You CAN do this. Just think, in less than a week you'll be through it and if you stick to it, you'll never have to go through w/d's or live the life of an addict again! I congratulate you on your big decision and on your grit.
If you get bored, restless or anxious try to decouple from your symptoms. Put on your favorite music with earbuds (helps fire up those endorphins.), watch a funny movie (laughing is great for endorphin production), take a walk in the sun (exercise helps speed detox and the sun helps with mood). As marycarmel above mentions, take as many hot salt baths (doesn't have to be epsom -- regular salt will do) to relax & detoxify you. Try to force yourself to eat binding foods and stay well hydrated (2 to 3 liters of plain water per day.) Try to stay away from processed/fried foods, sugar & caffeine. If you have the runs use Imodium. (Just follow the directions).
Try not to stress. Don't worry about the next hour or day. Stay busy. If you can't sleep, don't toss and turn. Do something you enjoy or stay online and post. Please, use the site as lifeline during your 'acute withdrawals' . It's an absolutely amazing & inspiring resource. (I know I couldn't have gotten as far as I have without the tremendous support, advice and commradery I've received here.) So, stick with it. Hold Fast! We're Here & we're rooting for ya'.
I have vitamins. Only rx I have is Clonidine.
