Hey guys,
so interesting about the sugar and the weight.
Opiates never made me gain weight in fact I think I lost weight, I was
down to 92lbs. at xmas and I was taking a sh*tload of pills.
OMG, nobody EVER wants to be 92lbs.........disgusting, I couldn't even
look at myself....I had to put a towel in the tub so my tailbone wouldn't bruise.  euuch!  I just couldn't eat.  So I've been gaining weight all
year trying to get back up there and to my surprise right after w/d I was
hungry again ferociously!.....but for all things sugar!

I'm at 57days today and just since last week the whole sugar thing has
subsided dramatically.   So either way,,,,what's with the sugar thing and opiates?????  Anybody know?

Oh and Mawmaa, congrats on the weight loss....omg that's a tremendous success.  I have a friend who did it 2yrs ago and he lost 100lbs and is plateaued.  Oh ya and I do have a gf who took loracets and gained weight to the point that she went off them.

Good luck girl
feel good.

When I first started taking pills I lost weight. Nearly 25 pounds. Then, after taking them for an extended period of time, the sugar cravings hit me hard! That's almost all I would eat! Anything with sugar, and I started to gain weight. When I went through detox, I lost weight very quickly. Too much weight and I looked awful, and felt awful. Now, I have gained a little weight back, look and feel much better. My weight seems to have stabilized. I still have to be careful, though. My weight issues seem to be similar to everyone else's!

Hang in there, Mamaamw you're doing great!

Amen to that! My first detox was beyond hell!!!! I lost 20 pounds in a few days!!! Terrible! I had gastric bypass in 2009 and lost 140 pounds. Since being on hydrocodone I gained 30 pounds. I just wanna to focus on getting that off!!!! (Plus some!!)

When i was using i was at my ideal weight, i didn't have much of an appetite at all, i did crave sugar and ate like crap but my weight was great.  During detox and for the first 30 days i lost around 10 pounds and i was at my lowest weight ever and i felt great and skinny!!! Now, i gained 10 plus pounds from my ideal weight, my appetite has increased and i need to lose 10 pounds.  On the bright side, losing weight is sure easier than detoxing:-)

Oh yes Sarah's soooooo right, u don't want weight loss from the HELL I've been thru!!!...I was on a high dose of oxy 400mg a day most days, people dont realize how strong that is!!..I ate almost nothing for 2wks straight & even then, it wasn't food, just water, Gatorade or boost protein..but in a matter of seconds up it came!!..OMG I would rather be fat ever than lose weight like that...I swear it was THE sickest I've ever been & I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!!!...LOL...haven't puked in 2 days & am starting to want food!...yay!!.... :)

You will lose weight gradually which is good.  The weight we lose while detoxing isnt a very healthy weight loss.  As time passes you will become more energized.

Dang Teri! How much have you lost? I took my last dose last Sunday at 9pm. So, after a week, I MAY have lost 3 pounds at most. My w/d wasn't as bad this time as my first. My first time I lost 20 pounds. But this time.... Nope. Which I'm ok with that bc that just means w/d would have been worse. But I'm hoping and praying that I lose some.

All opiates cause weight gain after being on them for an extended period of time...I run everyday & still gained 10lbs..here's what I read online as to why..BC of all the toxins from them in your body, your body will hold onto xtra water to try & dilute the toxins...I can tell u since being off them for 2wks, I've lost soooooo much weight probably BC I've been soooooo SICK not eating & puking my guts out...I'm probably 110lbs now & pray I don't lose more...its scary!!...

In my personal experience they seemed to make me retain a lot of water. Plus, the constipation...
