Detoxing from Oxy while at work? Day 1 :(

I have a huge oxycodone habit and I hope posting here helps with me get through the detox process.  I was taking about 12 30mg Roxys per day for the past 2 years.  Unfortunately I preferred to snort them and honestly I think that I’m more addicted to that then anything.  The feeling that I got from the actual snorting sensation is very addictive.  Anyways, I’m attempting to start my detox today.  I took 1 subutex today, which helped a bit.   Starting tomorrow, I will not be taking anything.   The other unfortunate part – I cannot miss work.  So, I have Imodium and 800mg IB. I figure if I can make it to Friday then I have the weekend, by Monday the 7th, I will be decent.   I’m a 33yo male.  Does anyone have anything they can add as far as getting through the withdrawals while working?  I’m really worried about the energy part of it.  I appreciate any feedback.  Thank you.

on my way out the door so I will respond better later but I have to be honest with you.  at the amount you were taking, I don't see how there is any way possible you can detox and work at the same time.  You didn't taper, correct?  you went from 12 pills per day to one Subutex to nothing tomorrow?

You are going to be pretty sick, like the flu.  Can you work while having the flu?  What do you do if you don't mind my asking?

Make sure you drink a ton of water, gatorade etc...and protein shakes will help....some say the 5HTP helps, but i've never tried it....take multivitamins and try B12 liquid...it gets into your system quicker because it's sublingual.

Congrats on stopping....i'm sure you know it does get better after you get thru the first few days.  hang in there...more support will be along soon.

I work at a call center. Its hard because we lost a lot of our staff and now we only have 6 people. Im also the best employee.  Its going to be hard, I could maybe miss friday.  Yes, I went from 12 a day to 1 subutex.  I could get subs, but I just want to be done.  Ive tried to taper.. it just doesnt work for me.  Thank you for the support!   What do you think about taking Adderoll for energy?  Ive only taken it a few times, but it gave me a lot of energy and I wouldnt be worrried about getting addicted to that,  Thanks again for the support.

yea i would forgo the Adderall....it's just another mood altering thing you don't want to get mixed up with....we have people here that were taking them and maybe they will be along soon.  I can't say about the subs, never went that route either...but if you want to be done then stay away if you can....if you can't taper your dose, then you can't.....have you thought about getting your doctor on board to help you with it?  Coming off that high of a dose CT is gonna be tough, not trying to scare you but just want you to be aware.

Adderall may cause lots of anxiety. There is something people use called L-Tryosine (sp) for energy. It made me jittery though.

I ct'd almost that much. At a call center, with plenty of immodium and determination, you could work through this. It won't be easy, but I assume you sit?

Take a heating pad with you. Ginger Root for nasuea, lots of water, Ensure or protein shakes, crackers, soups.

Valerian Root helped my anxiety.

Several people here worked through detox. Won't lie, it will be rough. But time may actually be better spent at work than home clock watching.

Check out the Thomas Recipe on google. It helps a ton! Make sure you eat and drink plenty of fluids! Force yourself to eat even if its just crackers! The first 3-5 days will be the worst as far as flu like symptoms! Working in a call center is going to be really hard as your emotions will be all over the place! I will be praying for you and if you need any thing stay on this site these people helped me so much and we have all been through it!
Good luck

Hi there,
congrats on your decision....and I wish you much success and little pain on your journey but I have to be honest ......the work thing is going to be unbelievably hard.  My husband went through exactly what you are doing but he was taking oxy's, is that different I don't know, (not my DOC)....
anyway he's the kinda guy who just "shakes" everything off EVERYTHING
but he was off for at least a week.

But I have heard of some here who have done what you are attempting and
I couldn't be more in awe of them.
Everything mentioned above is key though, so helps.
prayers and much hope
you can do this.

Yes Barb, I sit down at work. I have to make calls and talk to people all day. My boss is the Tony Robbins type, ton of energy and always trying to push you to be sucessfull. That is going to be the hard part as well. As far as emotions... Im not sure I have any of those anymore.  My father recently passed away, we were best friends and I didnt even cry at the funeral. Im assuming it is because the Oxy made me that numb.  Again, I really appreciate all of the support and comments.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father. I have been there. Now, your emotions will come back with a vengeance. It doesn't take long either. So you may end up going through the grieving process, as you may not have done so yet. Even if you thought you had, if that makes sense.

Stay around. We will give you support, and it does help.
How are you feeling now?

So True Barb..Also we go through the same grieving process when we give up are substances. I just found info on it and put it in my Journal.
I would like to share something here..I was on the Methadone after the oxys/hydos.for over 12years.I tried to taper down but did not make it..I was always running short and started to buy the Adderral from the streets..These 2 drugs gave me a crank buzz and then a benzo at night to come down. I am going to tell you that PLEASE do not go with the Adderral..BS you can have bad w/ds from that one two. I had a experience in all my years of using nothing like this before. I now can tell which drug did what as far as physically and mentally..What a lot of people do not see is that each drug hits different Neurotransmitters and so fourth in our Brains. This just makes it worse to come off of while you are trying to heal the brain from the other meds..Please do not add any more..Give the brain time to heal. Try all the natural things that my MH friends told you..OK. Be Safe!!
Bless

I am 29 hours into my withdrawal from 20 plus norcos a day. I am finding that attitude has a lot to do with it. Kinda fake it til you feel it!  I am not an emotional person either but found myself crying over a commercial today so be prepared for that!  I wish you luck!  Stay close here and listen to their advice!  I couldn't have got this far without everyone here!  They are truly my angels!

Detoxing at work will be tough like everyone above says. I was hypersensitive to heat, to cold, to sound, even my thoughts "hurt". You deal with lots of people on the phone. Be careful not to over react to "pushy " people. I was very irritable at times during my first week off oxy. Fortunately my wife is a career RN and dealt with all my moody bs in stride. I do not know how she put up with me. Be careful at work knowing ahead of time you may be feeling a little impatient and out of sorts.
In the morning tyrosine and other amino acids helped me with energy. I had to leave them alone after lunch or I got really jittery and couldn't settle down once I was in bed for the evening.
Anthony Robbins could learn something about true desire and motivation from all the folks here who make it through the "flu" we talk about.
Best of luck, you CAN do this!

Wow.... Thank you for all the support.  It is giving me strength to get thru this.  Sorry, I didnt update earlier.. we had a long morning meeting.  It was an hour but it felt like 5 hours...lol.  I feel pretty horrible right now.  My legs would not stop moving last night, I woke up every 2 hours. I drank about half a bottle of nyquil.  Im super sweaty right now but Im also really cold. I took an 800mg IB and I have been drinking a lot of water.  I know Im supposed to leave the caffiene alone, but I had to have my diet dr pepper.  Thank you again for all the support.  Its only 10am here in Nevada, so I have a ways to go to make it to 5pm still.

As the above have already posted, you will have a difficult time detoxing at work - I can't even imagine what that would be like. However, if anyone notices or says anything, just tell them that you're feeling kind of sick but, because of the staffing shortage, you drug yourself in anyway.
There are things available that may help, but for me time was the only thing that made any difference. Each minute, every hour was a victory as I was getting closer to my goal.
And as a footnote - we addicts love the rituals associated with using almost as much as using...Your's was snorting, mine was having my pills with me and watching the clock until the "magic hour" when I could take the meds. I had others, but that was my favorite.
Hang in there.  If you can get through a couple of days at work while detoxing then you can do just about anything.

Thank Kyle!  Yeah,  I know exactly what you mean. Im so used to working high and snorting pills. It used to be my breakfast basically.  Im almost half way there!  My legs are killing me. And I hate the cold sweats.  The worst is my legs at night... they dont stop moving.  I feel really determined this time...  Its different the the other times Ive tried to quit.

Well...  My work day is half way done.  Its pretty crazy,  I obviosly feel horrible. I forgot the immodium... my brain is really foggy. My eyes are watery and I have a lot of cold sweats. I have been drinking alot of water and I suprisingly was able to eat half a sub.  This is awesome..lol.

Haha, keep up that attitude and you will be fine.
I know a few people that detoxed at work.  We formed a Secret Detoxers Club.  We told one girl just to hide behind the filing cabinet.  We made up fake guns to aim at people that annoyed us.  It just went on and on but it was fun and it helped a few people through working while detoxing.
Good luck and Keep Posting

Doesn't mean much now, but just think of the stories you'll be able to tell. I did a couple of things during my days in detox hell, and when I look back I have to laugh. I've posted a couple of my "adventures in hell".
If you can, keep your sense of humor - it will be as important as anything else during this process.
