Quitting pain meds abruptly

I've been on oxycontin for two years this month. Having never taken any pain meds before I was started on 60mg. After a month I only took 30mg, and now 20mg. I lost my insurance and can't afford to go to the Dr or fill my script. I've been wanting to quit anyway but today is the first day I haven't had my pills and it's almost unbearable already. What will help this mental and physical pain without causing a new addiction???

Welcome!  Yes, it's no fun getting off of these nasty suckers!
You got all great advice above!  Be sure to get the things spider and Vickie mentioned!  They really will help!!
The only thing I can say, like spider mentioned, is that for me getting outside and walking, even though I didn't feel like it, helped SO much!!  O believe it helped the RLS and helped me to sleep.  Sleep can be hard to come by during this time so anything you can find that helps is a godsend!!!
Keep on posting and reading and just know that it really WILL pass!  ❤

Hi & Welcome to our Forum.
Keep checking your post as we come in & out throughout the day.

Our awesome Spider gave you some great advice. As you are going through this, just let us know how you are feeling and we will help.

Try to get some good vit/min to take too!
Some will help with the sleep, anxiety and some will help with the energy and no-low motivation. The thing is that you want to build up a good immune system to help rid these toxins out. Find foods that have Antitoxins in them. You can go and pick up some packets of vit/min that you can add to water. Look for the Emergen-C ones that are cheap. You can find the ones like a Electro Mix that have vit/min, as these are the vit/min that help relax the Muscles and should help a bit with sleep. There is also a Immune Plus one. The vit/min will take time to kick in, so if you can eat Healthy that would be the best. Protien & Amino-Acids are great too. Just keep Pushing!!  Time & Patience is what it will take for all those Brain/Body Chems to adjust back from the removal of these Stims. Hang Tight!
YOU are Healing each and every Minute. Just take it min by min and day by day.
Bless
Vickie

Hi there searching....welcome.....congrats on getting rid of those evil things.

You've come to a great place for support.  Lots of peeps here have gone through what you are going through, some going through it right now.

Be prepared for flu like symptoms....a BAD flu.  Keep yourself hydrated, drinking lots of water.  Try to keep moving if you can, don't focus on time...distract with fun music or humorous TV shows or movies......BATH  in eosom salts as much as you can, keep telling yourself that you will never have to do this again....finally over......you may desire Imodium ...some of us just wanna get that sh!t out of our bodies anyway, quick and complete, but Imodium is good if you have to go anywhere.  Eat if you can, u may not be able to.  Keep close to this site if you don't have someone there to help.
Post, journal, read, ask questions.

You're not alone ...much hope, strength and "push-throughed-ness" ...lol
Peace
