Simple enage in a sport, you get home then your off for a run, then training. This is a 1 stone two birds scenario, your getting fit and taking your mind off your dependence. Before long cough syrup will be a distant memory, seriously you will forget it and one day remember but without a seconds hesitation forget it, where it belongs. Sobriety is good when you like who you are, make a list, what do you want to change? physical appearence is a good place to start regardless of how vain that sounds its a very good source of confidence.
Hi there ~
Addiction is more about what going on in our thinking than anything else... We addicts have a thinking problem. I'm a recovering addict.
You're quite young and you have a FULL life ahead of you :) - you CAN make some changes now and choose to learn skills from others IF you are willing... it sounds like you may be...?
I was sick and tired of being sick and tired... and that's when I finally reached out for help. Is that where you are now?
If so, I highly recommend getting involved in AA or NA meetings locally where you live... any substance you are putting in your body in order to change the way you feel... is a problem. Going to meetings and learning from others can be a huge source of learning a NEW way of doing life and caring for yourself.
Praying for you today! Glad you reached out in this forum. Keep coming back!
Hi I am so happy for you that you realize that this is no way to live.
Do you have an adult that you trust that you can speak to?
Parents,family friends,pastor,counselor?
Reaching out here and admitting that there is a problem is a huge step.
Now it would be best to find someone local that can help you.
Addiction only gets worse before it gets better. Get to some support groups,
Celebrate recovery, na, church. Get as much support as possible.
Don't isolate yourself. Do you work? Enjoy any hobbies? Exercise?
Changing up your routine is essential.
We are here.keep talking to us.
Praying for you,
Debbie
Hey there! You are so right..that is no way to live your life. The fear of quitting our addiction is so much greater than actually quitting. We start our drug of choice and before you know it, we think we can not survive without it getting us thru the day. This is so not true. You can get thru this without your drug. Fight for yourself because you really do have so many possibilities ahead of you. Fight for you. Sober is so much better, we just forget that when we are in that fog. Somebody once likened being sober to watching tv on the biggest, most high tech, HD tv imaginable as opposed to your old standard tv. Find it deep down. Distract yourself brain, crank your music, exercise...whatever you need to do. I strongly recommend you find an NA or AA meeting in your area...you might be surprised at how many people your age will be able to completely relate to you. Start your sober journey - you will never regret it!
drugs pretend to be your best friend first they push everyone else away than they isolate you than they kill you.....dont go down this road.
your at a very important stage in your life weather you realize it or not...there are to roads in front of you and trust me you dont want to continue on the on your on get off now while you can....your young and things will only get worse for you if you dont jump out of this circle and thats a it takes is a leap of faith.
i have done every drug in the book i started young as im sure you have as well..EVERYTHING is a gateway..first i said i would never do so and so drug while i ended up doing than it happened again and again until i ende up a full blown dope head....and your right it is scary to think about being sober but its even worse thinking about what your family and friends would go through if you were gone.
your not living life right now your just passing time
by the way i wish with all my might i could go back to your age and make different choices....beat it now while you can
