what do you all think?

Hello everyone, I first posted here about 5 months ago on how I wanted to quit taking opiates. Well that never happened and I am in the same boat. I have been taking methadone almost 4 times a week, taking 30 mg every time..sometimes 35, I know some may say thats not a lot but it really gets me high as a kite and I can take 40-50 mg of oxy at once. just think my body is sensitive to the done? But yeah things have been really hard lately and I am about at the point of going to a doctor for help. I really do not want to but I have tried a countless amount of times to quit with no success. What do all you guys think? I truly deep down in my heart want to quit. I Am going to be receiving medical insurance soon so I will be able to go to a doctor. The health care plan I am going to be on is a crappy one but not that bad. I can only go to a certain doc they choose, office visits will be 5 bucks, specialist services $5  nothing for lab tests and x-rays, prescriptions are $5 generic and $10 brand and er $5..you prolly all didnt need to know this but it will give you an idea of what im workin with. I am wondering though on what a doctor can and would do for me and what options would be available. Sorry this is so long, thank you all for your time. motoxman.

yes and I will take your advice on staying away from methadone, those clinics are supposed to ''help'' people but the only thing it helps is the addict to get a steady legal supply while the gov't gets profit..rehabilitation at its finest eh? haha

Hard to answer since I have no idea how long you've been an addict or how much you take.  I'm going to assume that you cannot handle going ct or you wouldn't be here asking.

A regular doctor probably won't be willing to do a lot unless you are in a state where regular doctors can prescribe something like Suboxone.  I wouldn't suggest taking it unless you've been addicted to opiates for years and there's no other way.  You may get a compasionate doctor who'd give you a few tranqs to help you through wd, but other than that he/she may suggest a methadone clinic.  Do yourself a favor and stay away from methadone or any drug with a long half life unless you are willing to spend the rest of your life on opiates.

However, you do need to have a physical, blood tests, etc.  I don't know how long you've been an addict or anything so it;s really hard to give an opinion.  Give more info and I'm sure you will receive plenty of advice.
