Methadone Detoxing

I have been in the methadone program for 2 years and I am down to 28mg from 90mg, I have been going down 5mg a week. I haven't really felt the withdrawals yet except a little bit of a weird feeling, I just want to know if the withdrawals are gonna be real bad and what can help... Thanks

Hi and welcome to the frum I detoxed off 150mg over 8 1/2 mo as long as your doing ok keep going the withdrawal can hit at any time but most people have probles around 20 to 25 mg  there just is not a lot there to hold you over so you have to slow down the taper . always let your body be the final decision about dropping. dont drop more if your still feeling it methadone has a 1/2 life of 36 hr so you usually dont feel the withdrawal for 3 days again it is all about serum level and keep it high enough to keep the withdrawals at bay but fast enough to get it over with once and for all there are some good victims I have found that really help  they made a big difference for me and many others here on the forum so go up to walmart and pick up a 3 in one...calcium/magnesium and zinc start taking 4 with breakfast and 4 with dinner this will help in about 3 days it is only 6 bucks so pick it up and use it any way if you need someone to help I will help you threw your taper I know first hand just how this stuff can make you feel just hang in there and know you can do this we all want to see you get better  keep posting for support good luck and God bless...............................Gnarly...................................

You're doing great. The main thing is not to drop too fast and to give your body time to adjust to the new level. If you make too big of a drop too soon you'll know it.

It's at the lower levels most people have problems tapering off Methadone, so this is especially important at his stage. You may want to slow your taper before long.
