May have found a doc to give me OC again

Alright my medhelp  friends..... been a chronic pain patient and have had a friend that I have not been in contact with for a very long time. Turns out he told me tonight that he is a CP patient himself with back pain. Told him my story today and today was his doctor's appt for meds.


I texted him what my condition was and he showed his MD and asked about it. The doc said it was an extremely painful condition and told him all about it. This guy I have been talking to on and off for over a year from a dating site and we used to talk frequently. He asked what was different with me and I fessed up about my pain condition.  Sooooo




He called his doctor after hours and told him how desperate I was for pain relief. This primary doc wants me to make an appt to see him so he can"help me" quote un quote. He justs wants documentation that I really suffer from this and he may help me. This guy seems co dependent as he offered me his roxis for pain, which I denied b/c I am on subs. I would have taken them otherwise.


This guy justs wants to start off as friends first only so he says. Should I nix calling the doctor? I need pain releif so badly it's not even a topic I want to argue about. I drink every night to ease the pain and drinking is causing me more problems than the pain meds ever did. This doctor probably will help me as he has been this man's doctor for many many years. Far drive, maybe hour and half to see him but he has late night hours the same night I used to see my old oxy doc. Chronic Pain Suc*s. I can never ever, ever get pain relief off my mind. Dr. Kavorkian aided a person in death over this condition. I am stronger than that though. Screw Kavorkian. He makes me feel worse when drinking like it's ok to end it when in my heart and religion I don't want to. I want to LIVE a happy and healthy life like we all do!

Hi again Prodigalgirl ----  Voiceofreason has really hit the nail on the head on this one.  So, let me get this straight.  This is a long term doctor of a guy you met on line and things may or may not work out with him?  Assume for a minute that the relationship does NOT work out and you have issues with each other ---- Then what is he going to tell his good friend, the doctor, after a failed relationship with you?  By then you will be hooked 'again' on pain pills and dependent on a guy to prescribe them who is a long way off and have to just hope he will not also throw you overboard.  Am I the only one seeing this scenario?  You, Prodigal, are walking into a field of land mines here -  I encourage you to stay the course you are on --- continue to taper on the Sub --- get your life back - -do NOT go back into slavery again -- that road leads to disaster.  I know you started this to get clean --- you will find answers to the chronic pain in your life --- many of us have and it beats Opiates by a long shot.  I do wish you the best.  Happy Thanksgiving.

First question is ..........why are you on Sub? Is it because of abuse or is it pain management? If you abused before you will again and the party starts all over. As far as the "guy" goes, we are all adults here we know what he wants. He is useing your pain to get close to you.  I think you have 2 different things going on here. One is a question about a relationship and the other is a question about how far should you go for pain relief. You better make it clear right up front to this "guy" what your intensions are with him and then you better decide if you want to travel every week to see your doctor..............Sounds to me like there is alot more to this story and you are only telling us part of it. I do feel bad for you because of your illness but Im sure there is SOMEONE closer that can help you.

I'm not real sure what the question is here? Are you asking about seeing the doctor or are you more concerned about the involvement this guy might have in it? Sorry I'm a little confused.  I think it's probably best to see a doctor of your choosing in your own area.Whatever you choose to do...all the best...Kim

Do you not have a doctor in your area??  You are on sub so would you quit taking that to get on the pain meds??  Just wondering here.........sara

Impressions?  All of us are probably open to hearing anything from anybody that has to do with pain relief.  I sure am.  And drinking every night isnt good for you and its unhealthy to boot!!  I am just not aware of any meds that will do the job....and I look very hard.  But thats just me. Long time and many miles to see the Doc - but he must by law have a face to face meeting to prescribe a narcotic for you.....is that what you want?  If you are okay with that he may do you a lot of good.....but I would want to have some idea of what his treatment consists of......maybe a first appointment would be enough to find everything out ..... maybe it would not be.....and maybe he even has something in his kit that isnt narcotic but remains effective.....you would be quite a hit around here if that were the case...... Bottom line I suppose is whether or not it is worth it for you ....much time and much expense involved but not many other ways to find out what the Doc is even offerring - - - -  Got any coins to flip??  Good luck with it - it may take some thought - - -
