my last resort before trying anything else would be methadone...why decide to live ur life on narcotics if u can taper...pople here are suggesting it but goals may be different..is ur goal to switch to another narcotic and then wd from it...or to get clean from the drug u r on? suboxone is another choice for maintenance if u feel u need to stay on a narcotic for the rest of ur life...or u can use either methadone or suboxone to taper with for a short time to avoid wds if u r afraid.....all of our goals are different and someome who has chosen methadone for life is their choice...it is a really hard drug to withdraw from and suboxone can be too if used for over 21 days...goals are different and u may need to decide what ur plan is
I have a friend in a similar situation as you. It's tough. I would try the clonidine 0.1 or 0.2 mg every for to six hours for about 5-7 days. Monitor your pulse at least and don't take it if its below 60 beats per min. It will help reduce the severity of your wd symptoms. I think methadone should be avoided like the plague! Try to taper a bit more than go ct from an even lower dose and you should do ok.I'm a nurse and I see your a student. Don't give up, I can only imagine what your thinking. Private message me if I can help. Good Luck
My Honest opinion why trade one addiction for another..More junkies are stuck on methadone for the rest of their lives.. Kicking methadone is as bad as heroin except it last longer.. I would do a lot of research before I made a decision like that.. Best to you..
Welcome to the forum
I'm an ex H addict, good job on the taper.. That is so very hard to do, you are using about 1/2 gram every 3 days.. The only place to start is to quit. It is difficult but manageable Many on the forum are right where you are at.. What you can expect is to feel like you have a real bad case of the flu for about a week then a couple of weeks of joint pain and rls it is tolerable.. You can pass it off as a summer flu they are nasty anyway.. As you know living as a junkie will lead your life to ruin it is not viewed the same as getting hooked on prescription drugs.. There are a few that have done this here.. If you would like to talk private please feel free too private message me.. You can do this and leave it behind you.. I wish you well on your journey... lesa
HI And welco9me,its a move in the right direction you are making. First and foremost Heroin is always going to be of a different strength, and we pray to god or however that we not get sinister products as a cut,but all that aside. That clonidine in my opinion is Nasty!!! why take a medication designed to lower your blood pressure, you will feel weak, light headed and still have to deal with the subject at hand.Methadone was invented for exactly the drug your on!! Heroin, why not get stabilized and if you then desire taper-off in a medically safe-way. There are all kinds of people leasding productive lives as EX junkies, now on a Methadone program. all the best john
how can i get on one of these methadone programs??
