20 Y/O ...Hydrocodone Addiction , Need Advice.

Dear Everyone,

My name is Tim and I am 20 years old soon to be 21... I have been taking pain pills (all different kinds) for the past 4 years .. It started off as a weekend sort of a deal, just to get a buzz going on when I was a kid in Highschool.  However, recently for the past 8-9 months, I have began taking them regularly.. as some sort of a pick up , with college then work.. I started taking 3-4 * 10/325mg watson .. but found myself quickly taking 5-6, now. I am taking almost 6 at a time , then up to 4-6 more that same day to spread out.. I'm finding myself being completely dependant on these things.. and am abesolutely miserable when I do not have them... Not to mention, I have to buy them threw many people I have met along my way... because I am not even prescribed.. I know I need help.. I have 20 , Loracet 10s at the moment, and need the best advice to spread these out , so I can call it quits..and get back on the right track...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks,
Tim

You've made the first step by admitting that you have a problem, and knowing you want to change it. I was addicted to Norco 10's for years, Started by script for a back issue and even though i continued to use them for legit pain, i caught myself taking them cause i felt better on them. It's a slippery slope.
You dont have alot left to do a huge taper so you will feel the withdrawls, but our mind tells us they'll be worse than they really are. I was on norco for 5 plus years and i went cold turkey and worked everyday, if i can do it* biggest baby ever* than  you can. Have faith in yourself and know that your body and brain are stronger than you could ever imagine. Were all here for you. PM me if you'd like

Hi Tim...you have your whole life in front of you!  You made the first step and that's realizing you have a problem and wanting to stop.  Good job!  Like previous posts said...cut your ties with old friends/dealers.  They will only sabatoge your recovery process.  Make a choice to quit and stick with it.  W/d is different for everyone but one thing I do know is that it WILL pass and you WILL get healthier and healthier and you will beging to think more clearly.  I come here daily just to read and comment sometimes not only to help other but to help myself.  It helps to read from and about those that have been in your same shoes so come back often for support.  You can do it!

I always listen to his song "Beautiful".
You have to ignore that little devil on your shoulder telling yout o pick up that phone. My dealer recently got busted. So I knew I couldnt relapse. Well the other day one our friends called. I know his brother deals. I couldve asked him to hook me up but I didnt. It takes alot of will power. It was tempting but I know I have come to far to go back now. And I dont want to go through w/d's again. I finally feel "normal" again and I dont have to be high to be ok. The cravings kick me once in awhile but then I kick them right back lol If you need to talk to someone message me anytime!
UGGGHHH Now I want to listen to music lol.

Dominosarah is right. If you get clean and then slip back into that environment its going to wreck your recovery because of the temptation. I was doing $200 worth of heroin every two days. I stopped cold turkey. It was hard but with the right support from my family I did it. You can do it to. You have to hit rock bottom sometimes in order to stop. My addiction all started from pills...then when I couldnt get them I tried the other stuff. It was cheaper and always available. It was the worst decision I ever made. But it taught me alot about myself. Things I had to fix.
I tried the tapering with the pills and for me it didnt work. It takes alot of will power not to touch those extra pills when you know there just sitting there. And I didnt have that power at the time. My best advice to you would be to stop buying them completely. Once you get clean you will realize that you dont need them to get you thru the day. I would literally drive 50 miles every two days to get my stuff. Our addiction controls us. It turns us into people we never in a million years thought we would become. If you want to try cold turkey start taking a multi vitamin. Magnesium, Omega 3's, B12..they will help and the B12 will help with your energy level because for the first few days your going to need it.
I promise you it will get better. I cant tell you when but I promise it will. Its all in your hands. You have to "want" to get better. No one can do the work but you. Push through it and each day gets alittle easier. I promise.

We cant post on the open forum a taper plan as we dont know if the person has any other medical condition so it just protects us all.  You are going to have to change your playmates and playground.  Being around people who use is not a good thing.  Cutting ties with your supplier(s) is very important also.  You need to make it impossible to get any more.

Probably more around 10 pills a day.. 6- 10mg at once, then 1.5 per hour/ sometimes Im around where they are snorting them aswell.. I prefer not to tho... & Well, I can get more... I just dont like to buy them like that, the money, and also the risk factor.. because they are considered to be illegal to be in my possession... I have endured days where I have not had any.. and been just fine.. but I find myself buying more. I would like to believe I am a strong willed person that can easily dig myself out of this hole.. What would be a sufficient taper plan for me??

Hi and welcome to the forum~

So you are taking upwards of 12 pills a day?  You dont really have enough to do a proper taper.  The best way is to get ahold of your doctor and have him/her help.  Do you have anyone that could hold the remaining pills for you?  You can get back on the right track but it will take strength and determination on your part.  We are here to support you so keep posting~
