yes 12 mgs now! a day! Well when i quit i was in pain, and fatigued, lil motivation, which is why i went back, to realize still in pain, I have scoliosis, fibromyalgia, etc. But is made the switch, now i like subs better but incredible pain!!!!!!!!!!! I am not upset with the dr. but he told me i could still take codeine which does nothing! It is the naloxone, i want subutex instead of suboxone, he says not available in Canada???????? Why! when i read the leaflet for suboxone, i nearly ****, lol., at all the side effects observed for suboxone, yet subtext, barely anything! Yes i took to drinking while on methadone bigtime, i have no desire to on the subs! I just wished i had never gone back after 2 years., Before methadone, never this much pain, no!!!!!!!!!!! I think the methadone caused all this, plus i have always been on benzos and enough meds to knock out small horse from major sleep disorder, one thing after another! Yet i asked for license for pot, my as swipe family dr. said there is no evidence, HELLO, yet he put me on lyrica, which the commercial seems like a freakin parody comedy with all side effects, i was high as kite, and nearly burned my house down, yet he says i cant get stronger than codeine, as was as "addict" which was ********, this was when i quit methadone, and never had to tell him this, just wanted to be honest, i had enough and brough my husband in to verify i cant get out of bed, pain, etc. I was crying, he said it was my mood! I said I am a very spiritual and very happy person! My mood is total frustration and if he had to live life like this is pain and couldn't go to work, get out of bed, etc., would he not be in same mood!
hmmmmm!
Your post is very confusing. You were on methadone for 10 yrs and also took codeine while on the methadone? Then you were clean for two yrs?
And now you are on 12 mg suboxone and drinking alcohol with the subs?
You also asked in another thread which is better for chronic pain.....neither really....what was your pain like when you were clean for 2 yrs?
Are you upset with your dr. because you cannot take codeine while on the subs?
I jumped off subs at a ridiculously high does because I did not know any better....but if you are looking for chronic pain relief...which I am.....the narcotics just create opiate-induced hyperalgesia after awhile....resting your entire body and finding your true pain level is probably the best should you decide to wean off the subs.
I'm a little confused. So, you are taking 12mg sub for a week now? How long since your last methadone or alcohol? It takes 1-3 wks to feel stable on subs and they are a partial agonist, so there is some methadone withdrawal in the beginning. What and when was your last methadone dose? It took me about 5 days to stabilize, then I had to lower my dose to stop the infamous bupe headache. I also had some spasms or twitching, especially falling asleep or trying to fully relax. A slow taper is best for subs, have you asked your sub doctor about a taper?
