Darn. I was gonna make wise remark here but I have been at the rock bottom that you describe Prospero73 and there was nothing funny about it. It didnt start improving for several days after they removed me from the ventilator..............
Otherwise you will hear the "thud" when you hit.

Rock bottom is when there's nowhere to go but up. That would be an OD that you survive with no brain damage. The only thing separating that from death is that someone is there with you that has the sense to call 911.
This is the same questions as when people come here and ask, "how do you know if you are an addict"
My answer, if you have to ask, you have hit rock bottom. People's rock bottom can vary from others. Obviously, something drastic has happened or you are feeling very low, so this may be your rock bottom. Talk to us...Let us help.
My doctor closed up shop after 12 years of giving me more and more. That was the
bottom or closest thing to it for me. I already knew what had to be done but had been
putting it off. The closing just gave me a date to start.
I think its different for everyone. For me it wasnt some awful tragic thing -- there were plenty of years of that.. plenty of years of loss and doing terrible things I dont like to remember -- but none of those things did it for me... I just woke up one day and felt myself dying in body, mind and soul. It was not a big "AH HA" moment.. I was withered and lifeless. And just like that - That was the day.
I really don't think anything else need said, they all hit the nail on the head!!!!
I hit a few bottoms, but everyones is different. My overdose was my final bottom and I knew I was ready to seek help or die. It made my choice a lot easier though. When your mind is set to do this, nothing will stand in our way, NOTHING!
lol..yey when u stop digging is a good sign u r at the bottom! and everyone's bottom is different..some have to lose eveything they own and everyone they love//others have to run out of pills a few times //for others it could be the realization that they r going broke buyiung pills//others have to be bankrupt before they realize it....when u have hit urs then u know it...it is just no fun anymore
You just know that you just don't want to go on the way you currently are. You start trying to find another way to live. You detox and deal with whatever comes your way, the emotions, depression, all the mind games. You deal with them and reach out for help from others, Dr. or phychiatrist, addiction spec. n.a. what ever works for you!
