if you have problems, that would be a good idea. They shouldn't leave you high and dry like that. But they are they same Drs that say Tramadol isn't addictive.
I'm not worried but you made it sound like it was a imminent risk lol. I have to actually work in a little bit. Not worried about seizures, just hoping the WD's are mild and quick. If not I may actually go back to the Doc since I was useing it for mostly legit reasons and tell them I'm having WD's and to help out however they can.
Thanks
It is not in every case but enough that c/t isn't advised. There is no sense and getting worked up about it. That won't help anyway. Is someone with you? Oh and yes, the longer you've been using, the greater the risk. You will probably be just fine.
Can't. Doc cut it off totally even after my protest and prescribed Voltaren to takes it's place. I haven't been taking them that long( little over 3 months). Do you think I should have a legit fear of siezure or is it really rare or for long-term users?
Do not quit trams cold turkey. Seizures can result. Taper off of them if you can.Thomas recipe doesn't help every one but it has helped quite a few.
This recipe has been around forever and I know you can trust it although I don't know how well it actually works and I always have to scratch my head when they tell you to take a controlled substance. I did use to take Hyrdocodone recreationally but I didn't see this recipe until later. I can say it was a very rough quitting cold turkey for a week or two although I was taking 7-8 max strength pills a day.
A few years later and now I'm stopping Ultram but it was for legit reasons this time. 350mg/day that could probably have been cut in half for actual pain but it did produce a mild buzz and of course I had to abuse it. Once again it will be cold turkey because I had no warning that the doc was going to stop writing the script. At least I have a good idea on what to expect and I sure am dreading it, although I'm very happy that I'm getting off one way or antoher. I just missed the time I usally took my first dose and I know it's going to be getting rough in 24-36 hours. Maybe I'll luck out and have a mild WD's since it's SUPPOSED to be a non-narcotic with low addiction. I think I can guess that's just contorted BS and it will be like quiting other opioids.
When posting the Thomas recipe. It is wise to warn of the dangers if using an anti-depressant. They can react with amino acids.
Me again, Guess what? Someone just sent me a private email and said at one of the sites they send each other soup recipes. Don't feel quite so bad now. Did you get a good laugh.. cause I haven't stopped yet!! Thanks again, Kande
Thanks so much for the quick reply with the Thomas Receipe. I really appreciate your quick responses. Now, to get up the energy to make it to the store!
Have a wonderful night all and thanks again!
You are so great! Thank you for your willingness to help me. :-) I wish the receipe I was looking for was something in a cookbook- sounds much, much better. The Thomas receipe is a combo of vitamins, amino acids and actions to help ease the discomfort during withdrawl.
Thanks again for your willingness to help.
Sorry about that! I just read the other posts. Didn't think anyone actually exchanged recipes here. But thought maybe it was something to relax someone or something Oh well by now you are probably laughing so hard, you won't need the recipe. If everyone gets a good laugh from this, it will be worth my being the dummy of the day award. I think I should stay in my own area...where ever that is? Thanks Kande
Hey there, I didn't know anyone shared recipes. Are you serious? I think that is a great idea. Give me a little more details about the recipe...I have all my grandma's old recipes, I no one posts it, maybe I can find it in my grandma's cookbook. What kind of recipe is it? I'll be waiting for you. Kande
THOMAS RECIPE
If you can't take time off to detox, I recommend you follow a taper regimen using your drug of choice or suitable alternate -- the slower the taper, the better.
For the Recipe, You'll need:
1. Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others.
2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store).
3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store.
4. Strong wide-spectrum mineral supplement with at least 100% RDA of Zinc, Phosphorus, Copper, Magnesium and Potassium (you may not find the potassium in the same supplement).
5. Vitamin B6 caps.
6. Access to hot baths or a Jacuzzi (or hot showers if that's all that's available).
How to use the recipe:
Start the vitamin/mineral supplement right away (or the first day you can keep it down), preferably with food. Potassium early in the detox is important to help relieve RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome). Bananas are a good source of potassium if you can't find a supplement for it.
Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5.
During detox, hit the hot bath or Jacuzzi as often as you need to for muscle aches. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of hot soaks. Spend the entire time, if necessary, in a hot bath. This simple method will alleviate what is for many the worst opiate WD symptom.
Use the Imodium aggressively to stop the runs. Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. Don't take it, however, if you don't need it.
At the end of the fourth day, you should be waking up from the Valium and experiencing the beginnings of the opiate WD malaise. Upon rising (empty stomach), take the L-Tyrosine. Try 2000 mgs, and scale up or down, depending on how you feel. You can take up to 4,000 mgs. Take the L-Tyrosine with B6 to help absorption. Wait about one hour before eating breakfast. The L-Tyrosine will give you a surge of physical and mental energy that will help counteract the malaise. You may continue to take it each morning for as long as it helps. If you find it gives you the "coffee jitters," consider lowering the dosage or discontinuing it altogether. Occasionally, L-Tyrosine can cause the runs. Unlike the runs from opiate WD, however, this effect of L-Tyrosine is mild and normally does not return after the first hour. Lowering the dosage may help.
Continue to take the vitamin/mineral supplement with breakfast.
As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better.
