Want my life back..help

Hi all....I'm new to the site courtesy of my girlfriend who has been a member for awhile. Now I am in the same predicament-I am an addict.I am a very private person so to post at all is tough for me.I am also a VERY determined person and once I put my mind to something,I will achieve/attain it.So....I have sought out the help of a suboxone doctor, but I have questions about the sboxone...I'm hoping you guys can help? Will I have any withdrawl side affects while on the sub?Approx. how long does 1 remain on it?Is it usually perscribed with anything else?Is it "better" than Subutex?
I just want my life back. This person is not me... have become a shell of a human and need to get back to living again for everyone's sake.I will do this,I know it will be hard, but I'm a fighter! Thanks for listening all

Congratulations on your decision to begin a recovery program!

A good friend of mine has been clean since the middle of January and he is being professionally trreated with suboxone for his addiction. The effectiveness of it varies with the individual being treated. In his case it has been extremely effective.

He was taking a large amount of Lorataba a day at the time that he decided to seek treatment. It is best to get clean without suboxone but in some cases this is just not possible. It is best to get off suboxone as soon as possible, however the professionals need to make this call. In the interest of you privacy as well as my freind's I have sent you a message with more information.

Please get the opinions of the pros and have them oversee your treatment.

Good luck in your recovery efforts and please continue to visit this site with questions and other concerns as we are all here to help you.

Hi Hunter, welcome to the forum.

Suboxone definitely has it's place.  Ang_811 gave you some good information.  She did it right.  I used suboxone, but was on it for 4 years and it was much harder for me to kick it.  But, all said and done, I am glad that I used suboxone because the detox was much easier than a week of withdrawals.  I don't know what you are using or how much, but you do have options and you have already started by posting on here.  Talk with your doctor and work out a plan - if suboxone is part of that plan, do what Ang did and use it short term to detox and then start a taper plan.  Get into an aftercare plan right away - that is part of recovery - just taking sub and not working on you won't really help you.  Keep posting, lots of great experience on here to tap into.  Best of luck to you!

I can't tell u what to do but I can tell u my experience. I was a using every pill imaginable from perks to oxycontin. I was way out of control.!! I sought help at the local methadone clinic. I was on methadone for about 2 years I went from 90mgs to 20 mgs and switched to suboxone. Since the methadone caused me to have some major withdrawls and depression. I was on suboxone for about 1 week and starte tappering from it immediatly. I was off of it in 3 months. When I  was on it I never experiences ne withdrawls even when I was tappering. When I made the jump the only withdrawls I experienced was a lil weak and tired but it was gone in a week. I think since I wasn't on it for that long it wasn't hard for me to get off of it. I think suboxone works well if u use it right. As n don't stay on it for a long period of time. Good luck with everything if u have ne more questions feel free to message me.

You have come to the right place. So much support here. And I myself, pondered this site for a month before disclosing anything and joining. As I'm sure many people have. Addiction is definitely not anything most people want to put on a billboard.I do know from having friends that have used suboxne that there are withdrawls, and more so with prolonged use. And I know it has been very effective for some people in their effort in quitting opiates. I don't know the depth of your addiction and the people I know of that have went this route were at a very high amount of opiates daily. But, I'm sure you will get lots of feedback and info. From people in this forum. You have already taken a positive step in beating your addiction and I wish you all the best. You can beat this!!! I hope you keep us posted on your progress, my blessings are with you!
