you have gotten great advice from corey and gizzy...try to get lots of exercise.  it will help you so much....please get some aftercare...most addicts are not able to maintain clean with out long term aftercare....this is never easy but ALWAYS worth it.  no sure how many mgs you take a day, but i was snorting 240MGS a day of oxy...you can do this,  but it takes work.

Not a bad idea. That's what I did the first couple of times that I detoxed. Benzos are a class os drugs that reduse anxiety. You have to be careful because they are also addicting and should only be used for the first week. They include Clonopin, Xanax,Valium and Ativan. They will also help you get some sleep that you will need help getting. Let me know if I can help in anyway. Corey

It's great that you are seeing a doctor. Hopefully he will know how to treat addiction or can send you to one that does. Many times doctors who don't know will put you on something equally addicting because they don;t know better. Post and let us know what he says. It would help to have him give you a small amount of benzo's to help with the anxiety if you wd at home.
I also did not tell anyone about my addiction for 6+ years. I told 5 people and it helped alot. I haven't told alot of my family even though they would also be suppotrive. It is important to have a place like this forum or NA to support you. Your family and non-addicted people don't understand and probably never will. I will keep sending you positive thoughts hon. Feel free to contact me anytime you want to talk. GBU, Corey

Congratulations on your realization that you need to get clean. I was also addicted to Hydros for 7 years. If you withdrawl on your own, which alot here do, you will have flulike symptoms for 4-7 days. In the upper right corner of the forum where it says Health Pages there are 2 articles that I would recommend reading Thomas Recipe which will give you information on things that will help when you detox and PAWS1 (Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms) which will help you understand your addiction and recovery better. I had to wd ct because, like you, I could not hold onto my pills. When you are serious about quitting you have to cut your supply or you will give in. Stick around and read some posts. There is alot of support and alot to learn here. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want to talk. God bless, Corey

That is a lot to come off of and many here can't taper, it can be torture. Pills were not my DOC so you will get better advice from others, many have come off vicodin here. Generally the worst w/d's are 4-5 days, but everyone is a bit different depending on how many and how long they were using too. If you look in the top right of this page you will see health pages and in it you will find the thomas recipe which can help with w/d's. It can be scary, but it's doable. Your making the right decision

Yes he can help you. How many are you taking a day? Are you planning on tapering or c/t? Congrats on wanting to get off them.
