please listen to sophie and the rest. a taper needs to be supervised by a doctor and odds are it will be far more comfortable that way, if they do it correctly. yes it takes TIME to do a taper...but in the end it's worth your sanity. the physical withdrawal can only be guessed at and it's always best not to ever take a chance with that.....the emotional withdrawal from benzo's tends to be really hard, though...especially with xanax. it's a short acting benzo and extremely potent...so withdrawal becomes very difficult, especially at those doses. if you discontinue cold turkey and are lucky enough to avoid physical withdrawal, you may experience the worst emotional withdrawal of your life. it's best all the way around NOT to do it on your own.
Im a nurse and you have to go to a dr and be honest about it. The drs will help you taper. I promise they don't want to be responsible for turning you away and then something happens to you. But do it only if your ready to do it.
Go to a dr and establish a tapering plan, NEVER try to get off a benzo w/o dr's supervision.
4 mg is a serious dosage to take after only 2 months.... Tapering is the only way with benzos, unfortunately. Please go see a dr for a tapering plan.
Best of luck to you. sophie.
Yes...even after 2 months. Stopping cold will be a kind of shock to your system. It's
just best to taper.

Hi~ Xanax needs to be tapered slowly. You should ask your doctor or a pharmacist for a good taper plan. Just don't stop cold turkey~
