i have a dear friend who becomes agitated so bad coming off anesthesia that she has to be restrained. maybe he's like that. as for the crack, maybe he tried it. that's all it takes sometimes, then it's off to the races. good luck. sway
injury and or illness, are common reasons for releaspe
i am sorry you are going through this, hopefully the judge will send him through drug court, and help him treat the addiction
i thought i was very drug savvy too, since i had already been through 2 sons with major addictions. took me awhile to "see the signs" of my third son being a crack addict. i really missed it when he relapsed after almost a year clean...he became very clever at disguising himself and his actions.
so what you are looking for is a "reason" that he turned back to abusing crack? like maybe a reaction to the morphine? and this is to try and get him out of trouble???
Sorry, i just read you said your positive he was clean. Possibly the morphine set it off, I am not sure.
Like Lizzie Lou mentioned above, are you 100% positive he was clean before surgery. I didn't smoke crack (once or twice) but my DOC is cocaine and during my use i fooled a lot of people that I was clean, mostly family. Can he seek some type of rehab or help through the system? I am sorry your going through this, crack is a monster to kick. I don't know the laws or if he has a prior record, but chances are he will not do the 7 years. I had to hit a few bottoms to stop using and now he has too. His dealers need to be in jail too:(
I am absolutely sure he was clean for two years, I saw him every day. I know when he is using now, after all these years. It took me a while, but I know all the lies and signs. I just really thought it was behind us.
yes he was clean from crack. He is 33 years old. They said he will probably get at least 7 years in prison
did your son still live at home with you and are you absolutely 100% sure that he had not relapsed "before" having surgery???
i find it strange that he woke up aggitated and not like himself. sounds more like he was needing a fix.
I don't know much about coke.As far as addiction goes though my belief is once you are an addict you are always an addict. My opinion is that when we are clean it's like the addict in us is in a type of remission. We are still addicts, but our addiction is lying dormant. It's still there and once fed in any way has the possibility to reactivate. There will be times in many of our lives, eventhough we are addicts,we will have a necessity to be on pain meds.We need to be aware of the risks and have a plan in place. We have the power and the ability to control it,it's our responsibility. As a mom and an addict I am so sorry for your families situation.I will keep you all in my prayers......Kim
Was he clean 2 years from crack or did he just start using this drug? I don't know about the reaction to the morphine, but crack cocaine WILL literally destroy someone so fast and many of those addicted will lie, cheat, manipulate and steal to keep feeding their habbit. Crack changes someone so fast, i witnessed it and saw horrible things during my coke use, just horrible. It sounds to me like he needs some help and maybe getting charged will ensure he is safe. How old is your son?
