recovery day 5

Hi everyone..I was on vic's for about 4 years and had enough..I got some suboxone about 20 2 mg tabs from a friend and basically from day 2 of my quitting I have just taken a tiny piece of the sub a couple times a day so under a gram or so...I don't feel bad at all.  Yesterday I was out all day and didn't get the second crumb  of sub and I got a bit irritable and tired but I ate and went to a movie and guess what I was fine. I am taking as little sub as possible just to get through the worst of it say a couple of weeks and taking as little as possible each day.  Considering i was taking 10 to 15 10/325 a day I don't seem to need much sub to stave off the wd's. I have ambien and valium for sleep but didn't even need that last night. I am also going to meetings and using this sight.  I don't want to get hooked on subs and according to a freind if you use it for rapid detox under a month and don't take large amounts it isn't so bad getting off of it.  I am really happy for the first time in so long...got a call for some pills today and said no thanks...it felt so good.  I know I have a long way to go but I feel like I am on my way.  Get help develop a plan and stick to it is all I can say...the fear we have is our disease telling us to keep using....don't listen.

Just wanted to say congrats on your plan. I know this will work for you. As you know, be very careful with the sub. You know the cross addiction things. You never want to take enough to get a buzz. If you do, you took too much. Just stay strong and move forward. Take as little as necessary even if it's only for a week.
Best of luck to you and congrats!!! I'm pulling for you!

Hi, and glad to see you back. It sounds like you have alot of determination and a great attitude for quitting. Going to aa/na is going to help you so much as well as posting here. I don't know much about sub but please be careful. I have read so many posts about it being hard to even get off of a crumb. It is way stronger than the Vics. so this is why you feel so good. It also stays in your system alot longer. There are articles about it under health topics in the upper right hand side of the forum. Please read as much about this drug as you can. You can do this. It does get much easier as time goes on. Best of luck to you. Corey
