I've decided on Suboxone

After many failed attempts to quit these white devils I've decided to give Suboxone a try.  I have a friend that is currently on Suboxone and he said it was a life saver.  Only problem is...he is now addicted to the Suboxone and I've heard horror stories about quiting Sub as well.

I'm not sure what else to do as going cold turkey is something I am unable to accomplish.  I have heard great success stories about Subooxne as well.  Strange story here.  Over the past 2 years I've had 4 people just walk into my office asking for directions after saying "I just left the doctors office."  I have worked at this particular office for 6 years and never knew there was a doctors office near.  I never gave this a second thought until one person actually mentioned the docs name and I finally put the pieces together.  This doctor is also the doctor that my friend visits for the Suboxone.

The last person to come in was a very nice guy that youu could tell had been fighting drugs.  This person was full of life, very friendly and said that Suboxone had saved his life as well.  I did not ask him how long he had been on Sub but you could tell he had his life back. He said this drug takes away the cravings, really helps with pain and he did not suffer any withdrawal symptoms at all.  I know I may be changing one drug for another but I have to do something.

ANother problem I have is I work in an industry where I am subject to random drug screens.  While I do have a script for my Lortabs taking any kind of narcotic is highly frowned upon and could cost me my job.  Suboxone wont show up on the typical drug screen and I'm hoping this drug will allow me to continue to function at my job.  Wish me luck.  If someone has any input about Suboxone I would love to hear about it.

You just posted two hours ago and talked about getting off the pills. In those two hours you decided on Suboxone? I really, really have to suggest that you do a bit more research before making that decision.

First off, it is not a miracle pill and comes with it's own set of problems. It is very addictive and if not used properly I promise you will be back here asking about how to get off of it. It is recommended that if you decide to go on the program, that you follow it to the letter by using it as a means to get your life back in order. It should always be used in conjunction with outside support and counseling. As I mentioned, it is addictive and if you are simply going to take it to ward off the withdrawal---you will be in trouble.

Secondly, so many people are taking it today--in a good and bad way that they have included testing for it in the standard tests. If you are looking to beat the drug test with it, you may be in for a surprise.

Listen, I am not trying to discourage you. I would like to see you succeed but this seems like such a quick decision and I don't want to see you regret it. Please do some more research before you decide.

i must agree with IBKleen, i also replied to your previous post,  i honestly think you will swap one addiction for another, i have read lots of posts on here about how difficult it is to come off sub, i really do wish you well, but maybe you need to look into things a bit more, the withdrawals from your pain pills are doable, best wishes  sudie

I also agree wit the above posters. a large leap from 4 tabs a day too sub. also sub is not real effective for pain relief. research your decisions and make sure you are doing things for the right reasons. I also agree with what you are taking now the wd are very doable. finding alternative ways to relive the pain would be ideal. while using our pain increases over time so it may be good to get off them for a time to see just where your true pain level is..
