Hi and Welcome! IBKleen gave you perfect advice! You definitely need to talk to your Dr and not have him as a source anymore! Also you need to cut any outside sources that you might have been using! If you are going to be successful at getting off the pills you cant have anything around or even just a phone call away!!! Why are you on the meds in the first place? Is it a pain mgt Dr? I was getting mine for back and neck issues and was doing the same as you and running out of them in a week or 2....then spending tons of money to buy them on the outside!!! When I had enough I had my Doc switch me to codeine to help me wean off. I was in withdrawals on the codeine so I just flushed them and jumped!!! Yes, detox is not fun and I dont want to go through it again but it really is only a week out of your life! Life is so much better without the pills!!! You CAN do this and we will be here to help you anyway we can!!! Keep posting and let us know how youre doing!!
Hi & Welcome to the community!
You are not alone. Everyone here has been right where you are. If you are really going to get off of that merry-go-round for good then there are some things that you need to do to make sure that you STAY clean.
First you need to break ties with your source. In your case, your doctor. The best thing to do would be to get honest with him and ask for help. However you do it you need to get him to stop writing the script each month. If you know it is there you will get it and you'll be back next month telling us the same story.
Second, and this was most important for me, is you need some form of aftercare. Whether you choose a church group, counseling or the fellowship of NA. It doesn't matter as long as you are around people who can help you to heal. Getting off the drugs is the easy part. STAYING off the drugs is the hard part.
Do you think you are ready this go round to cut your ties and get help?
