I saw a GP and was given a replacement prescription for Sertraline. I am still having withdrawal symptoms but now I know why.
I have been asked to thank you all by selecting a "best answer". However, I am going to thank you all by NOT singling out any answer as "best". You have all helped me. I think it is highly inappropriate for Medhelp to ask me to single anyone out!!
Thanks to everyone who answered. I have talked to other people and concluded the problem isn't codeine, but Sertraline -- an SSRI andtidepressant. This will be the SECOND time since taking it that I have been given a dud batch that has not been up to strength! Symptoms are not unlike what I had when coming off Ativan back in the 80s ....but of course we are not allowed to use words like dependency and addiction about antidepressants.......
The problems started in both cases just after I had a repeat prescription filled, but I didn't twig this time, because I could not believe it could happen twice! I have increased my dose until I can get a new batch, and will fill in a yellow card for MHRA (British medication watchdog).
Anyway, thanks for your support, and best of luck to you all in your journey to freedom from substances.

I love that! For pain or brain!
One great test is to see how you feel if you just stopped for a while. Put them away and try and forget that they're in your medicine cabinet, and then go about your normal life. Does that little pill bottle suddenly turn into a 4 thousand pound elephant in your mind and medicine cabinet? If it does, ask yourself why it is that you want one. For pain or brain? If you can forget them and let them sit there without thinking about them, then no problem. I truly hope you can pass the test. God bless.
Yes it's possible. Like meeg said above, when a habit forming med is taken with any regularity, even at low doses, dependency (and tolerance) are a concern. That being said, it's also very possible you wouldn't end up with any issues.
The best way to ensure that you won't run into these issues is to take the med ONLY when you really need it. The less frequently you take it, the better.
What do you take it for? Do you abuse the Rx?
that is not very much bebe, but imo anytime you are using a narcotic with some regularity there is a possibility of becoming dependent, and that's how it all starts. that's how my pill problems started, with being "dependent" on them. I would be really careful. If you're even thinking about it that says there's a possibility for abuse. more people will be on line later, right now its super quiet. :)
