all i can say is i think it is probably different for everyone, so many variables, like us we all come from so many different backgrounds etc.
i have been clean from any type of opiate for two years now, and sometimes have a using dream about opiates. I haven't smoked marijuana or drank for going on 9 months and dream 3 x a week about both. I think it has alot to do with what is most in our subconcious or bothering us.
as far as cravings, i have them , and as long as i am working an honest recovery program and am learning the tools to deal with them that i have learned i work through them and i believe i will probably have them the rest of my life.

I've only had 1 or 2 of those dreams thus far (56 days clean)... I do know many recovering addicts have them on regular basis.. A matter of fact it came up in a meeting the other night and some of our fellow addicts were saying its nothing to read into and it's not suggested to try to read into them... A matter of fact they said to take it as a freebie..lol

new to the site appreciate the wisdom.......gettin off heroin...... (zanys cocaine marijuana all at the same time really) but heroin mainly has been the biggest accomplishment in my life in many moons /years.....id rather wake up from a dream then still be living that nightmare ill say that ,i had to move outta the state i was in and without doin that id pry be still shootin up everyday still....i have found myself self medicating once a week or so with the booze but realize it 2 could be my next crutch so technically im not completely sober but 43 days off opiates is the best ive done!! THX

Congratulations on 43 days. I still have those dreams about once or twice a month.  In time they may go away. Good on you !!

Hang in there friend and congratulations!  You have gone through the worst of it and now I would just think of these dreams and cravings as annoyances in comparison to the wreckage of the addiction and the immediate fallout after quitting. It will get easier and the dreams will lessen and everything will fade as time goes by. You will feel even better by 90 days in and even better than that at 6 months as long as you do not put any other substances in you to change the way you feel. Just keep your guard up against using and it will all work out. Congratulations bud
