I originally was concerned that by tapering this for awhile that you would exceed the 9 days that I never went past with the Xanax and then would get in trouble despite the small amount you were taking every day.

Again, I have done this three times before, and only had a very slight insomnia after stopping abruptly on the Xanax, and I was up to taking 2mgs a day at the end of the 9, 9, or 7 days days.

I do remember itching a lot when I was taking the "Oxys" and the Vicodin, but I do not remember having this problem after I quit them. The only side effect I had from the Xanax, was being really groggy in the morning.

I hope you are doing better today?

Yes Benzo are Bad. I did go c/t with a Benzo and Methadone & Adderral I was abusing. I found out 11months later that most of my Anxiety to the Moon and being it took so long was a lot to do with the Benzo..Just take it slow and easy and give your self some time to adjust to each level that you drop..The Brain Chems or Transmitters get really unbalanced from drugs and it takes time to re-adjust back after the removal of any substances. I wish you the best and please do this slow..

Hi there Brooksville. Been to your city many times. My sister and an uncle lived there. My folks lived in Springhill. I love windsurfing at Pine Island!

I'd like to chip in my two-cents: go slow!! When you make that dose reduction and you feel the withdrawal symptoms, you might have to alternate for a bit until your stabilized and feeling comfortable on that reduction. Then move on to the next one. Take your time. No need to go through bad WD. You'll get through this. I'm glad you're nipping this in the bud! You're in good shape. The longer you stay on a benzo the more hell you go through to quit. When we take that stuff we're actually borrowing "calm" from out future. We pay back that calm when we stop. Keep posting. Wish you the best recovery!!

Hi, during my last three withdrawals, I took  between 1mg to 2mg of Xanax every night for 9, 9, and 7 days, and then stopped completely cold turkey on the Xanax with no problems each time.

Everyone is different of course(I am 217 pounds by the way), and I again never went more than 9 days with this stuff.

I am afraid to tell you what to do here, because I am not a doctor, and I know very little about you.  Hopefully, my post will at least help you make a good decision here on your own in regards to stopping this.

Hi Missy~  I, too, had a very short, low dose, 90 day run on a benzo (for anxiety)...and even tho the dose was low and I didn't abuse it in any way at all....it was VERY difficult for me to totally get out of my system.  I did LOTS of research and found a web site that will really bless you:

http://www.************.org/

There is LOTS of valuable info on that site and w/drawal methods, too.  From reading how you have been doing your wean down thus far....I'd say you are changing your blood levels too radically (stop completely and then start back) and stepping the dose down too fast.  Slow and VERY gradual is the best way with a benzo.
Hope this helps you~

I have been substituteing herbal calm which is a mixture of valerian extract, passion flower extract and others,,they seem to help but don't take the complete bite out of my nerves,,im thinking about takeing .125 of the Xanax every two to three days as I took .25 for 11 days, quit for 3, took .25 for two days now quit for 4 days does this make sense
