oly oly oxy free...i have accepted work(been turning it down)... i have accepted a gig at couple theaters.....setting up the lighting and running cables blah blah...this is going to be the first time working in a long time sober...nil pain management...well..motrin will be my pal i guess...i'm a lil worried bout how i'll fair,,,will i be on,what i lack in skill will not matter due to my flowing personality?..do i still have that ability to win others over and get help info out of peeps when needed...am i the same guy?...strange things running through my mind....i befriend peeps fast and get their confidence quick(or i did)..so i quess it is a crash or burn thing going on in my head...i can't remember if it's the ox's or me that hustled and gained the respect i have been given in the past..
i was the guy---if you want to get er done ask andre...he'll do it and do it right...am i still him?...lol......strange man...my confidance has nose dived after the phone call..as soon as i said yes i started getting anxiety....who am i now kinda thing going on in my head.....i am sweating now,,,uh oh.....,,,tha is all

We are always around people who use, but in some places they are more concentrated than others like the entertainment industry. So bee careful!! I think if you're up front with everyone they generally respect that because on some level they want to quit too...just bee careful. You are going to be fine. You're a fighter, a fookin' fighter...

I know how it feels, I'm going back to work in 2 weeks. Been off for 6 months due to an injury, surgery, and PLENTY of pain pills. Been off them about 5 weeks now, but I have the same feelings about going back to work too. I'm going to be in a HOSPITAL with all my doc buds who didnt mind writing the scripts because they had no clue I was going in circles getting them from diff docs to feed the dragon. Gawd I hope THAT never catches up to me, speaking of karma.
Anyway, enough about me, I just wanted you to know you were not alone in that anxious state about going back to work. Hey what about all the stuff we FORGOT in the fog? LOL Should be interesting to say the least.
I know you can do it, I know that anyone who can get up and be alive after what you have been through AND still clean needs some standing ovations, or bands playing, something. I have to tell you again what fun I have had reading your posts and the crazy funny things you come up with.
Chin up my friend. YOU CAN DO IT. THink of it this way, if you have kicked the drugs and stayed out of jail this far, the next step will only help that cause. I've got your back man, lemme know if I can do something to help.

opi, this is Steven. I felt the same way about my job! From the time I started work there four years ago until this past week I was F****** UP ON PILLS (OCS  MORPHINE  METHADONE) . You know how it is on pills you feel like superman. I would work my a** off. But this past week being pill free at work, having the old me back, DYNAMIC!!!!!!! I feel high on life Opi. ( I am sure the chronic helps a little) But you will do fine man. You have a great personality. PEACE BROTHER

this is for plays but i've done it all....i am looking forward to doing the arena concert gigs again...they are big so i will ease into those..baby steps man,,,baby steps....just thought of bill murray ...lol....thx....

Opi, You are that same person. I had the same fears after withdrawels. Was scared ******** to go back to work. I'm an artist and need inspiration and motivation. I was so sure it was all gone, but once I was on the job, it all came out. Everything I always was is still there. I was also much more friendly and talkative on the pain killers, before the pain killers, I was a very quiet person. I decided I wanted to keep alittle of the friendly outgoing me, so I did. I found I can still talk to people without the pills and I probably don't garble my words anymore without the pills.  So, don't worry, you can still be the "go to guy". It's a choice you make. Good luck on the new job. It sounds really interesting. Is it stage work for musicians or plays or what?

I think you will find that you are better than when you were using. Drugs are a crutch. The real you will do just fine. Stay away from the druggies, though!
