True depression or Lortab?

I have been taking approx. 3-4 Lortab a day for about 5 months for a herniated disc in my neck.  I have been unhappy with my job long before that but it seems almost unbearable for about 3 months.   I find that my interest level in avtivities have decreased as well.  I am to the point of walking out on my job.  Waking up is a chore any more.  I'm not sure if I am truly that unhappy wit my job and life or if the pain meds are making it worse than it is.  I turned 40 this year and I am also going through a "life reality/accomplishment" period.  I am so confused that I don't know to sit or stand.  I can't talk to my husband or friends because you already know the answer.  It's alway what they think you want to hear or they say, "You will be fine.  It's just a stage of life".  That does not help whatsoever!!!  I keep quiet and appear very withdrawn and depressed.  Help....

It is common to have depression while taking Lortab. At first you may feel good, but then mood drags on. Opiates keep us from making seratonin and endorphins.

well there is no way telling if it is coming from the drugs or just life. i will tell you that if you stop taking the pills and have become dependant physically on them, that you will surely experience some depression. this may be personal, but if you are a woman you may be going through the change of life? and boy does that cause a lot of stuff.

or maybe you are just unhappy or bored with things. sometimes stuff looks good on paper but isn't exactly what we want, right?
