vicodin withdrawel

Hi Everybody I am a mom with 4 kids and a great husband, I also go to schoo full time and get great grades. I am also very active in PTA. Here is the prob hubby get 90 vic es for a back problem I took some liked them and now take about 4 a day. He takes about 8 a day. it is costing us about 1200 a month this is to much and I'm scared we are going to get into financial trouble!! I have to take care of my kids and go to school having the "flu" for a few weeks would be very difficult. right now we are trying to ween down but its tought because my hubby says " my back hurts" I think maybe he doesn't realize the whole tolereance factor! I've tried to explain it. Does everyone go through the evil detox process I used to take one at 8am not I can go till 2 but then I end up taking 3 at night so I am down 1 pill. How long does weenign take and whats the best way to do it?

Thanks a ton!!

Just wanted to add my support.Write your taper schedule down, keep a calendar.Make a plan and stick to it.So far it sounds like you are doing great.Like Avisg said getting clean is the easy part, staying clean is the real battle so start making a plan for some type of recovery care...ie...meetings or one on one counseling....You can do this and we are all here to help and support you...All the best...Kim

Thanks for the insight!! It made me cry, well ok everything is making me cry!! I just went down to GNC and got a herbal detox supplement hoping that will help. I know what you meanabout the money I said to my husband do you realize we could have paid off both our cars and taken a cruise with all the kids witht he money we have spent this year!!  I thought it was tough to quit drinking but this is aweful and I know I don't feel nearly as bad as most people who are on 20-30 a day. Thanks for all the support. I keep envisioning how much money I will have if I just stop!! ITs a good motivater I hate being poor!!

Hi I have two toddlers who need me, a job and business. I was taking 3 -4 80 mg oxy per day. I just stopped. Man, I almost died, but I made it - four days of hell, like I couldn't imagine, but I'm ok now. I cushioned it with some antianxiety pills to sleep when the pain and the insomnia was so bad on day 3, and a few Tylenol 3 (hey, down from 240 mg of oxy...they ony cut the edge on day 4 so I could walk straight and pick up my kids). Now I'm ok. I need aftercare so badly. I keep posting here. YOU CAN DO IT! If you are only taking 4 a day, your taper over a few weeks, down to 1 a day, the w/d won't be bad. Just try and have a plan, loads of drinks (non alcoholic) rest, try and get help for kids, apple juice, vitamin water, anything you can keep down, boost whatever, it will be ok. You will ok. Don't let it escalate to 20 or 30 a day and then your habit is $3,000 a month. Whn I realized I apent $20,000 on the pills, I had to face facts,my little boys need that money. I am working so hard now, I WILL make that money back and it will be for them, school, anything.
You can do it please keep posting.

Just keep going down once your body seems to adjust to one less pill then go another when you get lower like you are it might take longer between drops but that is ok even if its a week or too between drops it not the speed that you get clean its just that you do it .Recovery care is going to be sooooo important.

Just keep reducing 1 pill every few days until you get all of the way off of them .The pain is going to seem worse when he first gets off them because his body is going to want its fix .You should not have the pain factor seen as you were not on them for pain .
You also need to look into recovery care .Getting off the the pills is the easy part staying off them is the hard part..

Good luck you both can do it .
