Hoping I didn't give him herpes

I guess I'll go straight to the point. Ive been with the same guy for two years we have both been tested for stds since being together, he came back clean on everything which is strange cuz he has gotten cold sores all his life. I thought cold sores meant oral herpes. I came back positive for oral hsv-1 which I knew about from a previous test. I have been very careful when I get a cold sore to wash my hands and not kiss him or give him oral sex. Last week I gave him oral in the morning, by afternoon I felt a cold sore coming on and had a blister by nightfall. A little less than a week later my boyfriend found a red bump on his penis before we went to bed by morning it had grown to be quite large. About the size of a dime. The next day he found another on the other side of his penis. The first one started to shrink after that. They looked almost like mosquito bites but never blisters. He said they weren't painful unless he pressed on them. No itching and no other symptoms. The first one now has a tiny scab the size of a pen tip and neither one has still never looked like blisters. He refuses to get tested out of fear which I can understand because I'm scared too. I'd almost rather not know either but at the same time I love this man and his health is very important to me. I guess I would like to know if it sounds like herpes or if it's possible that I passed it to him. Any help would be much appreciated. Please please comment if you have any info that might help. Thank you

Thank you very much for time and info. I was very torn apart about the possibilities at first but after reading peoples posts and experiences on here I feel like it won't be the end of the world if he has it, just a small inconvenience at times. I see herpes in a different way now.

well since he already has hsv1 orally,  it's low risk that this was hsv1 genitally for starters. Even if it is, it's pretty much a non-issue since he already has it orally and hsv1 orally sheds more often as well as reoccurs more often in general.  herpes will look differently on different people but since he wasn't seen, hard to tell what is going on.

A blood test won't help determine if he contracted hsv1 genitally. He already has it orally.

The bumps never opened before the scab appeared. They didn't blister or secrete any fluid whatsoever. They look nothing like the sores we both get on our lips. So I suppose my next question would be do herpes sores look different on some people depending on what body part they are on? And do they always blister? My cold sores always look the same and appear one at a time once in a great while i get two at once. I haven't really done much research until now so I'm not sure how much the look of other peoples sores differ. And the last ? I have is if it doesn't reappear should we assume it's not the virus or should we have a blood test done? And how accurate are blood tests? Thank you for your help

Yes, if he gets cold sores then he has hsv1 already. Odds are his std testing did not include herpes testing but even if it did, even the best tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections.

could this be hsv1 genitally? it could be but  no way to know if he didn't go to be seen and had lesion cultures done before they scabbed .   It also could be other things going on too but sounds like these are too healed to find out now. should they reoccur, he should be seen and get them looked at promptly.

Another thing I was wondering is if he gets cold sores does that mean he already has the virus? If so why would his STD tests come back clean? And I've also read if you already have the oral hsv that it is very hard to spread it to the genitals. Is this true?
