HSV-1 primary reaction question

I was told that HSV-1 genital infections almost always cause a primary reaction. Why is that the case? I'm 6 days post exposure (received unprotected oral sex with sex worker) without any issue so far. If I don't have a reaction, does that mean I'm likely in the clear?

Hi, most likely to do with the sensitive skin tissue in the area so its easy for the virus to multiply on the surface. So having no sores is a good sign but only testing would confirm this.
