What's in a name?

Your screen/usernames often leave me wondering - just like those vanity car license plates that spell out cryptic messages. So I would like to know more about your screen name - is there a story behind it that you would like to share?

My name - Lulu - isn't what I started out with.  A couple months into this when I realized I would be sticking around here, I thought everyone else has a *fun* name, why shouldn't I do the same?

We have a dear friend who has a habit of calling all of us women friends *Lulu* when we gather to play cards.   Alzheimers runs in his family and he often says knowing all of us by one name now will be helpful later on.    He uses it as a term of endearment part of the time and as a curse other times.  :-)

I also think of this MiSerable disease as one lulu of a hand to be dealt.

Just plain *Lulu* was already taken so I put my birthyear behind the name - hence Lulu54.

So in a nutshell, that's the story behind my username.

What's your story?

This is fun, to see how all of you are clever in finding special names. My name Dagun is combined from my name and my husbands because I also have used it for our home email. My real name is not good for English because it is Dagbjört and my husbands is Gunnar, but when I am in USA peoble often call me Day-bright because that is what my name meens if it is translated.

So my best to you all,
Dagbjört

What fun to read the weird, the amazing and simply ridiculous screen names. In my case, I chose a very practical name. People kept asking me how I was and since my numbness and tingling never goes away I keep saying "no change, just tingling along." Now recently I feel as if I am walking into imaginery spider webs at various times of the day. I may have to change my name to 'nospiders'. Weird sensation but I have it on good authority not unusual for people with MS.

I think my favourite from all above, in addition to fluffysmom is HVAC.Who would have thought a lady would dare tread the heating, ventilation, airconditioning gig.

Blessings

What a fun post!  Lulu, what a great idea.  And I love the impetus of your name.  I think for my Fluffysmom takes the cake, if only because she has a three-legged cat with hyperthyroidism and IBS.   I mean...!

Mine is pretty straightforward.  I always wanted to be an artist when I was young, but I was raised to be practical, and other than working in a Disney animation mill, art isn't a practical way to make a living, so I went in other directions, but I ended up painting again around age 25, but as a personal interest and not for a career.  I also have a master's degree of fine arts in creative writing (fiction), but I've only published nonfiction.  So I am interested in and pursue the arts, but I'm neither a self-supporting professional artist nor any kind of commodity.  So: artistlike.

Raz was my german shepherd mix. as a pup he was a rascal. I thought he would be a great guild dog or police dog. he was always so eager to please. yet he had razzmatazz too. people who were scared of dogs all their life, he knew some how. he would gently lay his head in their lap and they couldn't resist petting him. trouble makers were scared of him. he always let me know when people were parked behind the house, unless it was the police. he never barked at them. racally razzmatazz got shortenedto Raz.

Carver is because I love to carve.I can't do that so much anymore, but it is still apart of me.
