Any suggestions - infantile fractures??

As most of you know, Dameon has 8 broken bones, unexplained, and as of right now it's being called child abuse. Two doctors believe it's absolutely child abuse, two other doctors believe it could be OI, but also think he's not a classic case, well, DH, my mother and I know it's absolutely not child abuse, so it's up to me to find out what's wrong with my son, since none of the doctors will, as they just ASSUME it's child abuse. I need to know absolutely ANY bone disease in infants that could cause multiple fractures, or for bones to easily break. Right now Dameon is being tested for hypophosphatasia, leukemia, and osteogenesis imperfecta, any other suggestions, so I can do more research, and have Dameon tested for absolutely every possibility. Thanks in advance!

What about a fifth or sixth opinion...I'd keep taking him to different doctors to get as many professional opinions as possible.  How scary it must be to be in your shoes!  And poor Dameon too!

Keep us posted...

Victoria~ brittle bone and OI are the same disorder. :)

Kimberlee~ i'm unaware of any other disorders that would result in broken bones in an infant.... but i'll keep looking and asking around to any friends in the medical field. My son's ped might know of something. she see's alot of different things in loma linda so she may have an idea....

I saw a recent story on a medical program about a child with OI - the baby's leg was broken my the mere act of changing her diaper and the medical professionals, at first, thought it was child abuse.  A skull x-ray was used to diagnose OI in this case as many cracks and imperfections could be seen which was indicative of the condition.

i do not know of any medical possibilites, but as far as the accused child abuse situation goes, i have been there myself with my son. he had gotten injured so i took him to the hospital and in a matter of minutes after the doctor saw him, child protective services was escorting me out of the room and away from him to ask me questions. at first i was p*ssed that they could even imagine i would intentionally hurt my son, but lets face it, some people just don't care and do hurt children, but i was not one of them. after calming down and thinking it through i decided i WANTED them to do an investigation to PROVE that i didn't cause the injury and so doctors/family/friends who ever would stop wondering if i did do something. if you have nothing to hide, id say let CPS/doctors do what they have to to rule you out and they may possibly be able to assist you on finding a cause!

i know this probably isn't a huge help but have you ever seen the movie unbreakable? with bruce willis and i think it was samual l jackson. well samual l jackson is born with this rare disease that makes it so his bones are easily broken. in fact in the opening scene when he's born both of arms and legs are broken just from the delivery. i'm not sure what that disease is but could something like that disease be a possibility?
