Chlamydia gonorrhoea urine test

Sorry if this question is similar to my previous one, but I was hoping to get another opinion.

6 weeks after my last potential exposure (brief unprotected oral), I had a urine test done for chlamydia and gonorrhoea. I was instructed to not urinate for two hours before the test, which I made sure to do.

My worry is with minor penile discharge. If I mistakenly wiped the discharge off the tip of my penis prior to urinating, would this potentially give me a false negative? Or is the urine test targeting the cells on the inside of the urethra, so the discharge on the outside would be irrelevant?

Thanks a lot

Even if you had no discharge, the tests would be accurate. You really can let this go. Getting an STD from oral sex is less likely than unprotected vaginal or anal sex.

Let's keep your questions to one thread so it's easier for all of us to follow. Thanks. :)

Will do! Thanks a lot for the quick reply auntiejessi, I think my anxiety got the best of me because I noticed that in a couple of places they state not to clean the general area prior to testing (but this seems to be more for females)
If they were collecting discharge, it would apply to you, but they weren't, so it's fine. :)
Great, thanks a lot auntiejessi :)
You're welcome. :)
Hi auntijessi - I’m so sorry I hope it’s ok if I ask one more question and then I can move on from this. I really don’t feel like I should repeat testing as the risk was so low, I did not urinate two hours prior to the test, and I did use first pass urine, but the whole “do not wipe your genital” thing is really throwing me off. Like I mentioned before, I did not wipe my genital with soap or water or anything like that, but I may have wiped off discharge with my boxers. I feel like this would happen to most men doing this test as they need to hold their penis to urinate into the cup. This is the poster I saw that has me questioning things:

Whereas other instructions (such as the ones I was given) do not mention wiping nor wiping the genitals

Isn’t the whole point of waiting two hours so that there’s enough bacteria along the urethra to that would then be in the first pass urine? If this is the case, would any discharge outside of the penis really make a difference? I would think there would still be enough bacteria along the urethra in order to detect any infection?

Thoughts?

Thanks! I really appreciate it
Yes, there would still be enough bacteria in the urethra.

If you are still so concerned though, just go get another test. If you are having discharge, tell the people at the clinic/office, and tell them to swab it before you urinate.

The chances that you got gonorrhea or chlamydia from unprotected oral is low. How brief was it? The briefer it was, the lower the chance.

If you can't let this go, just go get another test and put your mind at ease.
Thanks for the quick reply. It was only a couple of minutes before I left. I made sure my penis never touched the back of his throat. The discharge started about 5 weeks later - I first noticed a little bit of clear liquid in the morning, but if I “milk” my penis throughout the day it’s there. I did feel like I hurt myself masterbating a few days before so I’m wondering if it could be related to this. The person who performed the oral assures me he was tested and is negative. I have an appointment with my general doctor for a physical where we will go over the results. I also had a full urine analysis done at the same time.
If you have to milk your penis to see the discharge, it's not technically discharge. Discharge from an infection is there without you doing anything. You won't have to squeeze, milk, open your penis to see it, etc.

Discharge in the morning is normal, so long as it's clear or milky.

Stop milking it, let it be, and see what happens. When you go to your physical, see what your doctor says. You could be irritating things with the milking.
Great, thanks again auntiejessi. Based on what I’ve read on the forums, I think you are right and I can trust my urine test results. There are some posts that even say urinating immediately after and testing, or in some studies even a mid stream sample detected the bacteria, so I think what I did would result in a pretty reliable result. Besides potentially wiping away some discharge, I followed everything 100%, and did indeed provide a first catch sample.

Thanks for the info about the discharge - I will stop the milking and see what happens. I didn’t realize that milky discharge in the morning could be normal. This has happened one time so that’s good to know.

I will let you know what my doctor says.

Thanks again so much for your time.
You're welcome. :)
