Possible STD symptoms

Hi all,

Last week, I received unprotected oral sex with protected insertive sex with a friend. This past weekend I probably jerked off/stayed hard longer than I intended too - oops.

This morning I woke up with some soreness at the head of my penis after urinating and with two episodes of some white discharge. Fast forward to this evening and I don't have any soreness or discharge. Would this be a potential sign of a STD or did I may just jerk off too much and I was having some of that "nightfall" stuff happen? Do STD symptoms come and go like that?

Thank you!

STD symptoms don't come and go like this, but you can just test if you're concerned.

You can test now for gonorrhea/chlamydia/NGU, which are the only ones transmitted orally that would give you a discharge.

Oral sex is much lower risk than vaginal or anal sex, but if you're worried, just test.

Appreciate it the somewhat reassurance. I woke up this morning and had some yellow discharge but again, only in the morning. I just went to urgent care. Was negative for a UTI. They are sending for STDs. This is clearly not HIV related right?
The risks for HIV have not changed since you asked last year.

What's the transmission rate of these STDs? Like could I have realistically hooked up with a friend and not passed it on? The friend that I engaged with last week is somebody I have been hanging with for almost 3 years - just trying to see if I somehow test positive, is it a long term infection that I have had or is it relatively new as in just last week?
If you have an infection and have symptoms now, it's probably a new infection. It's not likely that you'd go 3 years with no symptoms.

We don't have transmission rates, but we do know that most experts don't think one act of unprotected oral sex warrants testing.

Again, if you are concerned, just test. You can speculate and wonder forever, or you can test and find out. If you've been active with any regularity, testing is a good idea anyway.
Yes, I got tested just to be sure. It is weird that symptoms have changed. This AM i had just small amount of white/cloudy discharge. Am i wrong to assume that if it was STD related that the color of discharge would be consistent across days?

Could something like the condom I use, or the fact that I heavily masturbated for a few days, cause non specific urethritis leading to discharge??

Thank you for your help! And yes, Curfew, I know it is not related to HIV but I still get bad health anxiety so figured I would reassure myself!
And follow up on today, clear water like discharge. Again only in the morning. Some pain but I think it’s because I’ve been constantly looking and “milking” my penis to see if something comes out.
Clear or milky discharge in the morning can be normal.

Stop milking your penis. If you have to milk it, anything you see after isn't an STD symptom, and you won't have to milk your penis to get an STD discharge. It will be there without you doing anything. Your penis is your friend. Be kind to it.

Do you talk to anyone about your anxiety? You should. Your reaction to this is way out of proportion to the risk.
I am on anxiety meds for my horrible health anxiety. Always thinking the worse, especially with something like this because I’m so careful and cautious when it comes to my sexual encounters. Luckily if I do test positive for g/c/t then I’m already on the meds for it. I just think in my head, oh no it’s hiv which it clearly isn’t.

From your experience, would symptoms fluctuate this much if it was STD related??  pain for only short period, 4 days of 4 different colored discharge, only seeing discharge in the morning? I think for me, the fact of timing is everything and my issues started 4 days after the encounter.
Maybe you need counseling on top of the meds - lots of studies show that a combo of therapy/meds works best for anxiety.

STD symptoms don't fluctuate. And also, to clarify, clear and milky aren't really "different colors". They are both normal. It's not anything to be alarmed by.

You don't have STD symptoms. You have normal things happening. You are just more attuned to noticing it.

Tested negative for G/C/T! Thanks for your reassurance. Hoping the symptoms get better
You're welcome. Glad to hear it. Take care. :)
