Vaginal and anal tearing/fissures

For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations;
1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?)
2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum)
3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.

This tearing is not related to intercourse since my husband and I are unable to do that due to the pain it causes me.  There is no real pain otherwise. I am getting some minor bleeding when I poop due to the tears in the anal area. The entire vaginal area is very itchy and if I scratch or rub the skin at all I often give myself one of these tears.  It seems as if the skin is very thin. There are no other symptoms that I am aware of.

I have had blood work and a biopsy done. Some of the things that I was tested for were; genital herpes, lichen sclerosus, lichen simplex chronicus, lichen planus, vulvar vestibulitis.  All results came back negative. The biopsy tested positive for "healing ulcers". My doctor does not seem to know what the problem is and is contacting a specialist in Lebanon, NH.

My Dr. prescribed an estrogen cream which did not seem to work. I have not been on any other medication for this. I am looking for some guidance as to what this condition may be and how to treat it. My husband & I want to get pregnant soon but I would like to resolve this issue first. Please help.

Help me!! What are ways to counter the pain from these tears? I have tried many things. But none seem to work. I get them quite often and it's having a really bad affect on my relationship of 5 years. We can barely have sex because the tears make it extremely uncomfortable and painful. The ob/gyn has perscribed some things that haven't worked. Now she just tells me to use vasaline or ky to make it less painful during sex but that only lasts a few minutes before the pain comes back. What can I do?

Sitting in a salt water Sitz (add salt in lukewarm water in a basin and sit in it) for about 15 mins to 20 mins can make a huge difference. It helps heal fast & is a big itch reliever as well! From whatever i've read & know, usually such blisters, cuts or even pimple like sores show close to ovulation time & are due to the acid level (pH) changes happening in the vagina. Drinking lots of water can help. Betadine ointment helped me a lot. If it persists, try seeing a doc who is free to discussing the above said possibilities. Most of them simply think it's herpes. Most importantly, we need to keep our cool & quit worrying! :)

DEAR.. anyone really,

I am sixteen years old and i have the same problem as most of you. I have my period, but i have never had sex. I have one cut and occasional itching, not constant. It burns though and is irritating. It doesn't hurt to pee but it is irritating. This just happened the other day, and i have no idea if it will go away or if it is serious. I hate the doctors and afraid to tell my parents. I wanted to see if anyone could HELP me. I really don't want to go to the doctors, but i figure i will have to eventually. And tell my parents.. I just wanted some input and maybe some suggestions to help, especially the irritation. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME??!!?!??!?! PLEASE.

Hi ladies.  I am so very happy to have found this site.  Following a termination of pregnancy 5 years ago, I was treated with antibiotics (at least 6 packs) due to a high risk of infection.  The thrush like symptoms started soon after this and have got worse over the years.  Of late, I have suffered from constant tearing of my vagina and anus.  I have thick discharge sometimes dark brown *which worries me the most.  I have seen several specailsits including a recurring thrush/bv clinic in London.  They all say the same and advise me to go on antibiotics to clear the bv.  In my opinion antibiotcs were the cause of all of this and therefore I cannot take their advice seriously.  My periods are normal but unfortunately the cracks, dicharge and itching are worst 2 weeks after the first day of my period and during my period.  I dread these times of the month.  Sex has only recently become an issue as my vagina has completely dryed out :( What can I do?  I do everthing by the book and still NO such luck.  It will be the end of me!!

Try using a lubricant like repHresh every day for a week then 2-3 times a week as needed. It is a more expensive lube but it lasts and will help maintain moisture in that area thus stopping the cracks. Also use additional lube durning sex since the friction is likely to cause more if there is not enough LASTING wetness... Don't be afraid to re-apply as needed. Also only use water or silicone lubes durning sex and then the repHresh daily. It will help!!!
