17 days off suboxone: my story

A little bit of background on me: I was on pain meds for about 4 years. Everything and anything I could get my hands on (pills). One day I heard about suboxone on the street and bought it instead of doc. I got into a sub dr and 4 1/2 years later here I am telling you my story!
I was on 24-16mg sub for 3 1/2 years. After I started with a new dr I felt encouraged to start tapering so I went down to 8mg pretty fast. Well my dr office closed up shop and I got a 30 day script and told "see yah!". I tapered down so much over 30 days that I had half my script (maybe more) left and I was at a tiny dose. Definitely less that 1mg. And I jumped! Scared to death but I did it and haven't looked back! I flushed every single suboxone I had left and waited it out! Day one wasn't so bad, day 2&3 kinda sucked; day 4-6 was the worst by far! The rls, anxiety, hot/cold flashes, painful joints, all of it hit me by then. Day 7 I had the BEST evening by far! Idk if it was the praying I did or the vitamins I was on finally working but I felt good. Day 8-14 was all the same, showers for pain, laying around, and baths lol had some energy spurts! That whole week I was slowly but surely feeling human!  Day 16 I think I had some stomach bug because I back tracked 100%! But I woke up this morning and like light switch I feel great!! All day today I have felt amazing! Did Christmas shopping, grocery shopping! It's not all a nightmare like some say, it definitely ***** but if the withdraw isn't memorable then relapse is inevitable! Just pray every day that someone has your best interest at heart up there!
Meds I took;
Magnesium 500mg morning and half pill at night
Clonidine (only the first week or so) .1 am/.1pm
Motrin 800 prescription strength!! Am/pm
Zyprexa for bypolar
Vivitrol 50mg as needed
Multi vitamin
Today I took nothing but v8 fusion energy drink in the am. Thanks for reading!!

Thank you everyone! It's definately been a crazy ride but a huge support system and a fiancé thats 12 years clean helped me a lot! Honestly reading posts, daily checking people's progress, talking and talking and talking has been my days! I also have a 2 year old that I have by myself until 3 pm when my older kids get home.
But today is the start of day 18 and I don't feel like crap! Lol that's a plus! Lol

Thank you so much for sharing your story! It will give a lot of people that are in the early stages hope. I am 35 days off subs and my story is similar to yours. it really sucked off and on for me the first month, but now I am starting to feel normal again and it is truly amazing. I tell everyone I know that still takes Subs to just try your best to make it the first month, then it really gets easier. I am so happy it wasn't that bad for you, some people on here have a terrible time, but everyone is different and a lot of factors play into your individual experience. So proud of you! I think your positivity is awesome and Im sure that helped you immensely. Keep us posted on how you are doing. XX. C.

Congrats, you did awesome!!! Sub withdrawal is awful and you tapered from a very high dose!  Thank you for sharing your story, it is very motivating. I am going purchase what you took for when I try AGAIN to jump off this opiate train.  I did subs but ended up on percs to ease sub withdrawal...stupid!  Keep up the awesome work and thanks again for sharing.
