Good sub docs ? How to find one..

I am 5+ yrs on Methadone, Hydros. Medium dose (20-30 mg day). and wanting off via sub. But, as good as sub sounds, it seems that if I have to get on a waiting list, heck Ill be well into w/d's byu the time that little fire drill unfolds. Whats the easiest way to find a no-drama doc / program in the Atl GA area. No drama, Im a big boy.. I can handle everything except the drama...

It seems to me very difficult to do the sub thing. From what I have seen, the insurance companies are going to report this to my employer and most likely I will lose my job. Great. I am not going to do it.

If anyone verbally whips you then it just shows their ignorance. I'm glad your daughter has found something that works for her. Sub is a great treatment option long and short term for the right candidates. Sounds like your daughter has found a great doc.

My daughter had a horrid addiction to oxy  and several trips thru rehab.....   yes she did go on suboxone  in addition to a lot of in patient and outpatient care the last time in conjunction with the Suboxone.....      There are some good docs out there,  I can assure you  she never had to transfer all her medical records, but her Sub doc did hold her completely accountable,  and she had to sign a contract to be in his program.  Hardly what I would call a sub doc  just trying to scam, because his goal was to get her focused on a program and off Sub as quickly as possible .......   She is now in her 9th week of sober living and has been basically in treatment since February.........  You need to make the best decision for you and your addiction....  trust me, I have been verbally whipped  on this site for saying that Sub helped my daughter,  however I couldn't care less, because we had  a doctor that wasn't "in it for the money" and loooooong term treatment,  and we her family have a lot of hope and think she is going to make it this time.  She is truly committed to a new life for the first time.....

I wish you the best  and if it takes checking out a few doctors  I think it is well worth your time...    Take care dear     and fight for your life, you deserve one of health love and happiness,

You certainly are an angel ! Im in 30066. (North GA). I will try to email you as well. I have been on hydros as well as methadone, and kicked dizepam (one down, 2 to go). I just want out. I dont want a big scene wiht the other doc (that wrote the scripts). Hes not bupe/sub certified (I looked into it) so I am sure I may get "more of the same" if I go to him telling him I want off. I have ins. by the way.

I had someone help me find the right dr.  We r all in this together. So, send me your zip code and I'll do the foot work 4 u,k? At a time like this, if u have to deal with drama, you'll end up just putting it off. trust me, I procrastinated for a month or 2. I worked in the medical industry for several yrs until I got into my current profession, so I know all the little loop-holes that we can get you thru to get u into a good dr. before the weekend comes. I started mine on a weekend too. I'm not asking u for any personal info...i just need your zip code. Do u have insurance? I know it's hard to trust a total stranger, but I promise, I'm offering you this "drama-free" way to FREEDOME with no hidden motives. I finally have my life back again and it would make me feel so good to help someone else get their life back. If it weren't for a lady in an elevator who saw my newly written scripts a few months ago, I wouldn't have even known about this miracle medicine. She was a former norco, oxy,per and sometimes heroin addict for 25 yrs. After her 1st dose, she has never touched any of those drugs again! So, please put your trust in me...I will get you all the info...let me do this for you. It's part of my recovery to help someone else also recover. btw, you have my email address right...after the weather_girl08, just use the little "at" symbol then yahoo. If it doesn't work, just msg me like you just did. I'll be waiting to hear back from u. Hang in there! you can/will be norco-free by next weekend! I'm a total sissy! and this was so easy! Hurry back with your zip code...talk with u in a bit, Tonya

Happy,

The thing commented out yer email addie, so I didnt get it. It came in as weather_girl08***@****. Any way, I tried the sub website. Called 4 docs. 2 answering machines (not a good sign) and then 2 people. Each had a list as LONG as your arm to get in. Must have discharrge from current doc. Must have all pharma records. Must have letter for this / that etc... I dozed off.

I am NOT into that ****. Make it easy. I made a mistake. I need someone to hlpe fix it.

Period. no drama. No warmup. When I get into w/ds (this weekend) give me a sub dose. Ill tapre off sub.

Period.

Sounds easy but I cant find a doc. Had one good recco from one guy here. Im calling in the am.

I'm on my 3rd day of subs after a loooong battle with 20-30 10mg. norcos p/day.It's been a true lifesaver! Go to the suboxone website, click on "find a dr." and you'll be amazed at how many there are. I took my last dose of 3 norcos friday nite at 9:30pm, woke up at 5am as usual, took the 2mg xanax they prescribed me, and by the time my withdrawls even started getting bad, I was (shockingly) already into my 21st hour. so, I took my first dose at 6pm Sat. evening and I have not had one craving, not one withdrawl (except for some anxiety and not much sleep), but I feel
great! You CAN do this! today is my 4th day clean of norco and I am in such a great mood and for the frst time in years, I'm truly excited to start each new day...I've been faking it for so many years. If u need help finding a dr., pls email me and I will help u. I promise, there are NO withdrawls on Subutex or Suboxone. Don't let the fear of withdrawls get in your way and be informed, but don't read too much on the internet sites about Subs. It will only scare you or cause you to second guess. When taken as prescribed, there's NO withdrawls, NO cravings and NO reason to not take your life back. Trust me...Im the biggest scaredy cat and skeptic out there and guess what...IT WORKS! email me at weather_girl08***@****. Looking forward to talking with you. Get ready to be proud of yourself and feel happy to be alive again! I promise! :) Tonya

A short term Sub taper, or a longer term maintenance course may be right for you. That's why you should seek the advice of a qualified doctor. People on here have strong opinions one way or another, but the only opinion you should give a lot of weight to is the physician that treats you. They should listen to you and work with you to treat your addiction. Not every Sub doctor is a money grubbing person. Just like any other specialty, there are good and bad physicians. You want someone who will help you treat the underlying causes of the addiction as well. Without a recovery program and aftercare, the Sub will be a waste of time and energy....

Well said. I tell you the more I look into the Sub thing the more it looks like a racket. They put so many conditions up front on treating you that you may as well not do it, or stay on what ya got.

Get released from your current doc, bring all your med records, blah blah blah.

Give me a shot when I reach w/d's. I know if you take sub early it can toss ya into w/ds I understand how it works...

I was doing the same thing mixing norcos and methadone and yeah it was rough to shake, but I have managed for 100 days or so,without sub. sounds like your sick of the 'done treadmill.

I am not a big fan of the money grubbing sub doc system. but I must say I have ran into some here, that could and have used sub. I dont know how its works with 'done addicts, though. perhaps a taper off the 'done should be done. just avoid long term sub usage, or you might as well just stay on the ' done...............

I called a sub center. A LOT of riff-raff up front.

Oh well....

just ask the sub doc how long will this program be?

if they come up with "as long as you want or need" answer, then you got a brainless sub doc.  the best program or doc will work you off the sub, within a month or two.

do you want to get off all replacement opioids, or just stay on sub for a long time?
