yes u r right, when we get off the 'devil drug' our  orginal pain often come back.as for methadone/sub/any other substance that works, then im all for it.sometimes it gives us that 'break' of the cycle.it allows the addict time to think. what i dont like is when someone stays a long time on those programs.kuddoes to u,wish i was doing as well as u r. but im almost there.good luck to u. also, i personly believe in the taper off method,at home with the support of a non addict. of course, whatever works is what works, heh,i made a pun. i  also think u should  also tell ur doc about the anxity attacks. theres no reason u cant take a vallium when u get them. very cold showers work for me. but were not always home,or  he may want u on paxil.thats also ok. remember, the goal is to get off the devil drug.once ur off them for a few months life gets better.ill say a prayer for u,u say one for me. good luck

I feel that tapering is the ideal situation. If you can, unlike me. Many people have success and are clean and it's over with. If you end up like me, and you simply cannot stop, sub has saved my life. I waited three days until I was really sick from withdrawals and took 8mg of subs and laid down. In 30 min. I was more normal and sober than I had felt in years. I can taper subs with my own will. My family is treating me like I just came back from a 5 yr. trip. I feel happy and healthy. If you are doing this at home, without a doctor, look up the  COWS scale and it tells you when to take the first dose. Hopefully a knowledgeable doctor is helping you. The subs also help with the pain, if that is why you take opiates. If you have life long pain, I feel it is better to be addicted to Subs than any other opiate. Pain is the main reason it is prescribed in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, in very small dosages(ei. .2mg). Hope my experience helps in some way. Keep us posted.

I really hope u have thought this thru.I was taking as many as u did c/t is was rough but I was feeling better n4days.I do understand with ur age and other medical issues this isnt an option for u but have u thought about a slow taper?I only say this because u r trading a monkey for a gorrilla.Unless ur doing the quick taper of method I belive it lasts21days.Otherwise subs is a drastic choice for lortabs.Im just trying to look out for u cause u will b on subs&I hear those r pure torture comong off of.

Withdrawal is never pleasant and I do understand.

Again, I am hoping you will be doing the full program with the Suboxone and NOT just using it as a means to avoid withdrawal. My fear is you will be back here asking how to get off of the Suboxone and that would be a sorry day for sure.

The restless legs is an issue.  I have a script (non addictive) for that and it keeps me happy and able to sleep.  It is usually part of the detox.  I actually had it before I was addicted, but the  devil pills kept it at bay and it came back  big time when I started detox.  There are several meds out there for that.  I also had two panic attacks.  They are scary.

I really hope this works because cold turkey is not an option for me.   I cannot even get out of bed and I am hot and cold at the same time.  I actually hyperventillate which bothers me.  I lay on the couch and then have to get up and walk around..then I lay down and find myself having to continually change positions with my legs..it's awful

I am 61 years young and were about where you were in amount of pills.  I came here looking for help and decided before I tried subs I would see if I could do it w/o.  I have minor health issues and thought I was medically able to do cold turkey.  I had gone cold turkey before when out for a 3 or so days, but as soon as I could get a refill I went back.  For awhile, I did not even realize I was in withdrawals..boy was I clueless.  Anyway, it took about 3 times for me to get it right..twice with the help here.  I am finally clean over 4 months. The secret for me was to tell my doctor.  It was two fold, I cut off my supply and I got supportive medications (not subs)  to help me during the worst of the withdrawals.

We all have our own stories and whatever you decide..subs or not, we will be here to help.  This forum is where I learned how to get clean and  and stay clean and I am very thankful.

Good luck and let us know what you decide and how we can help.  I am glad you came here.  Getting clean alone is hard and having online friends made all the difference for me.

Hi & Welcome,

Suboxone can be a useful tool in helping you to get on that road to recovery--if used properly as a complete program and in conjunction with an outside support system. It will allow you the time to get your life in order before tapering of it and becoming completely pill free. I urge you to do your research on it and understand all that you can. It is not just a magic pill to make the withdrawal go away and if it used in that manner it can be dangerous. It IS addicting so the idea is to get on, do what you need to do in the way of support and straightening things out in your life, and get off in as short of a period of time as possible. Hopefully your prescribing physician is one who suggests or insists on individual or group therapy. If you just take the pill (of film) and don't make the changes necessary for relapse prevention then it will have been a fruitless attempt. Again, please do your homework and follow the program.

I wish you the best and hope that stay around here and let us know how you are doing.
